It's just tough (naturally) getting bludgeoned by headline after headline about the Sucks signing 4 more 4 stars in one day! So and so picks the sucks over the Beavers! It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, the available scholarships, any of that. It's called momentum, and they got it for now. Wait! Another 4 star just signed!! UW Coach Petersen's take on recruiting "stars" The video should start at the 15:53 mark but if it doesn't you can fast forward to that point. This is the pre-fall camp presser and a "reporter" from scout.com asks the coach about what he thinks about the incoming class which he hasn't really seen much of on the actual football field. Then the "reporter" asks about their awards and stars. The reaction is priceless and sums up the way I feel about college football recruiting, the recruiting services, the star rankings, etc. Gotta say that I love Coach Petersen. He's the real deal.

Gotta say that I love Coach Petersen. He's the real deal. Man, I have to agree... is there ANY amount of money that we could throw at Petersen to get him to coach OSU?? He makes 5 million a year now... would 10 do it? 20??? Maybe bribe Jim Lambright to insult his wife or something???

Actually 32 for Rivals in 2017, Based on who is rating, the numbers are different, as are the names, Based on NEMEC reporting, it APPEARS that uo has verbals from 30 of those 32. He pumps everything ducky up like an inflatable elephant turd,

BUT Coach Peterson is coach. A coach that develops. A coach that can recruit. A coach that can coach. He turned Boise State into a winner. CGA is probably a Utah Stater lifer. Let's see if he can get 7-8 regular season wins. CGA is ............high school.

They have been winners for a long time, from their 1-AA Championship through Pokey Allen, Houston Nutt, Dirk Koetter and more.

I agree while heartedly. But perception is reality to fans and kids that are on the recruiting trail. And I'm a little irritated by all the talk of we don't need any 4 stars, etc. Don't even try to tell me that every single person on this forum would rejoice, do somersaults in their living room, and high 5 the dog if we were to sign 4 or 5 4 star dudes. The talk is ridiculous. We won't, so we have to do the next best thing. I h8 to even point this out, but Coach Riley figured this out long ago. I was hoping that Coach Andersen could prove it wrong and sign a bunch of high profile kids that are eligible. There's still time, but it seems like a long shot.

It is just innuendo, but from some of he more recent interviews seems like CGA is realizing just how difficult it is to get high profiles kids to verbal and then stick to that verbal here... Bottom line... He has to find some pipeline to talent and then be able to develop said talent... In reality I guess I don't care about stars as long as he finds that pipeline, weather it is diamonds in the rough, or undersized kids from small schools, or if he wants to become the D1 version of second chance U and gobble up as many JC players as possible and just deal with only getting 25% into school... Find a source of talent, and be good at developing it! BTW, look at UCLA, they have the talent pipeline down pact. but they get the least out of it (no development) of anyone! so the second half of the equation is probably more important that the first!

Yet, CGA's big brother, Kyle Whittingham, has this guy committed in 2018 (for now)...........Utah........Utah?.......Utah. 247sports.com/Player/Jack-Tuttle-90176Utah is big boy football, I guess. CGA talks a big, simple, honest, no-nonsense game. I'm getting horrible losing records is what I'm getting with CGA. Yeah. Luton is his secret weapon. The former Idaho QB.........a JC gunslinger........and he's the #1. Okey-dokey, CGA. He's the next Aaron Rogers, huh? Must have a greeeeeeeeeat OC, huh? Just get me the wins, CGA. Colorado State is a big game. CAL is another one. Actually, I'm curious. I'm curious to see which coach is really close to their players and connects to all their players. And who recruits better? Wilcox v. CGA??.........Personally, as much as I don't like Wilcox that much, his vitae (as just a 40 year old) is better than CGA's to me. Wilcox is defensive guy. His job is to stop the bleeding especially on D at CAL. UNLIKE CGA (that ........neat guy with the visor), Wilcox knows he's a defensive guy. So, CAL snags Beau Baldwin. How great is that for CAL? CGA and the Beavs need to get 7-8 regular season games. Win at Fort Collins and Bezerkely to show me something. I'm not holding my breath as I think CGA just mucked up the QB situation in Corvallis from day one..........ala Wisconsin....... Under 7 Ws, adios, CGA. Back to Weber State or something. Quick question: We got Chuckie Keeton as a grad assistant at Corvegas? For what? What does he bring to the table. Another thing, if Brent Brennan revitalizes San Jose State in a couple years, I'm gonna bust a gasket. And I'm gonna say, "Hire him!"

Nah... if we're goign to talk new HC we'd want to make a big run at Tosh Lupoi... current LB's coach at Bama, formerly best recruiter/D-line guy at Cal and UW. He's biding his time for HC gig and wants to get back to the best coast. Would be great young gun, top recruiter... but ultimately probably a 'stepping stone" guy with success here???!

Lupoi has never been anything but a position coach and there is no way a Power 5 program is going to turn a program over to someone with out any head coaching or coordinating experience. He has the reputation of being a hell of a recruiter but also has been investigated by the NCAA for his recruiting tactics. He is perfect for the deep south and the SEC where cheating is common place.

I will take the guy who recruited Shaq Thompson?! And who else did he take up to Washington? I'll take anyone who can recruit like that! While at OSU, didn't Dennis Erickson have a supersonic recruiting kid that bumped the Beavs to the Fiesta Bowl in 2000? Yes. MATT LUBICK. MATT FREAKIN LUBICK.....A recruiting stud. Of course he became some kind of OC/receiver coach at Oregon........and NOW he's Co-OC at (OF FREAKIN' COURSE) Washington.......Because great teams (Oregon and Washington) and great coaches (Peterson) know the talented ones. Lubick can recruit like Lupoi. I'll take either. Since CGA CANNOT RECRUIT, CGA better be able to coach. Yeah...........OK, CGA. It's Big Boy football time......your big recruit is definitely flinging it. He's a big time recruit......Luton.......A big time recruit.....A big JC QB recruit since Moevao......HUUUUUGE. To CGA's credit, he's not afraid of offering Big Boy recruits.......I think CGA's limitations will go away if he wins some big boy games that matter.
