LSU fan here. I come in peace. Majority of LSU fans respect this OSU team. We also want to play OSU, we just wish it was for the championship. LSU is a very confident team right now. The bats are red hot, pitching has been really good and defense has been phenomenal minus one fluke game in the opening game of the regional that we had major brain farts. Deichmann has been our bell cow in regards to power with 19 homeruns so far this season and he's had some blasts over 450 feet. Mainieri moved Watson to the 5 spot right behind Deichmann due to all the intentional walks. Was a smart move because Watson has been hitting the cover off the ball. The lineup 1-9 is really good. We also have lots of speed in the lineup that puts pressure on opposing team defenses. In my opinion, the only weakness in the batting order is Beau Jordan. Papierski used to be a liability offensively, but in the last month he is one of the toughest outs for opposing teams and he has been one of the best catchers LSU has had in a while and that is saying something. Someone posted those SE teams don't get tested during the regular season. That's so far from the truth. According to Warrennolan.com LSU's SOS is ranked #10 while OSU is ranked #83. In fact 8 out the top 10 SOS teams hail from the SE. Our middle relief pitching has come on lately. During the season it was our weakness, but coach Dunn has figured it out and guys are really dealing on the mound. Zack Hess has really emerged as the top middle reliever. He can heat it up to 97mph with a good curveball to change up speeds. Caleb Gilbert is the other reliever who can pitch 4-5 innings if he needs to with another strong arm. Our closer Hunter Newman won't wow you with his arm speed, but he just is a fierce competitor and just gets people out. What we lacked last year in the postseason was leadership and upperclass experience. When Lange (our ace) decided to come back it was a domino effect with Freeman, Deichmann, and Robertson deciding to forego the draft. Robertson is the team captain in my opinion. Anyway I'm hoping for a great CWS. Good luck Beavers!

LSU has a title in 2009 or is that still considered gorilla ball? if that's the case that means OSU has only won 2 titles in the gorilla ball era.

They were drafted, decided to come back, remind me how past performances translates to losses in 2017 again? Drafted in the 14th, 18th, 26th, and 32nd rounds. Plenty of players drafted that late will come back for a senior season if their team has room for them.

They were drafted, decided to come back, remind me how past performances translates to losses in 2017 again? So LSU has four baws in purple who were not drafted very highly. Great. And as for past performances, the only thing that translates is this year's performance. Since you brought up losses, OSU has 4, LSU has 17.

Depends on when they announced that they were going to return - a lot of our guys would have been drafted a lot higher out of high school had they not made it clear that they were headed to OSU regardless. As I have said before, LSU looks like the top of the bracket with us; not saying that anyone on our side, or in this tourney for that matter, is incapable of running the table. Going to be a great WS.

Thank you for your analysis - watched the game last night against MS and it seems like just about everyone making it to the Series this year can whack the ball. Nothing like when UCLA won it a few years back with a low batting average but huge arms on the pitching staff. You guys just have to play someplace where it doesn't rain! (A little inside joke there). Good luck to your squad, but have to get this in - "Beaverbait, Beaverbait, Beaverbait" - Come out to Corvallis and I'll buy you a beer!

Hey baws, LSU had 4 players return that were draft eligible. Kramer "lil sweet" Robertson, Greg Deichmann (i'm sure you have heard of him), Jared Poche, and Cole "drank" Freeman. Funny comment on the paper tiger though...remind me how many titles does OSU have again? I think i have seen this username somewhere doing PBP

ISR: #1 Oregon State (SOS: 65), #6 LSU (SOS:27), #12 Florida State (SOS: 25), and #17 CS Fullerton (SOS: 17) Sagarin: #1 Oregon State (SOS: 67), #5 LSU (SOS: 21), #11 Florida State (SOS: 23), and #20 CS Fullerton (SOS: 18) Massey: #1 Oregon State (SOS: 46), #3 LSU (SOS: 17), #7 Florida State (SOS: 12), and #15 CS Fullerton (SOS: 13)ISOV: #1 Oregon State (SOS: 44), #3 LSU (SOS: 17), #13 Florida State (SOS: 21), and #16 CS Fullerton (SOS: 22)RPI: #1 Oregon State (SOS: 83), #5 LSU (SOS: 11), #7 Florida State (SOS: 1), and #22 CS Fullerton (SOS: 40)
The terrible joke that is RPI. Only RPI (or Warren Nolan's even dopier NPI) would rate CS Fullerton's and Oregon State's schedule so poorly and Florida State and LSU's schedule so well.
LSU lost to #1 Florida, #3 Kentucky, #7 Texas A&M and did not play #6 Vanderbilt, #8 Auburn, or #10 Missouri. Four of the six conference series wins were against teams that did not make the Tournament. The big win was against #4 Arkansas, who lost its own regional to Missouri State. LSU went 4-0 in Hoover but played #10 Missouri, #11 South Carolina, and the aforementioned #4 Arkansas. Beating #3 Kentucky 10-0 was a legitimate win. But the Wildcats were an epic meltdown away from sweeping the Tigers in Lexington back in April. If you take away the Kentucky win in Hoover and Kentucky's epic meltdown in April, LSU's last quality win was 10-6 in Gainesville back in March to avoid the sweep. Zero quality series wins the entire season. Lost the Shriners Hospitals College Classic to a mixed bag of TCU, Baylor, and Texas Tech. Losing to quality teams does not a quality team make, whether RPI and the other computers think so or not.
In my opinion, CS Fullerton is the scariest team on Oregon State's side of the bracket. LSU is certainly a dicier proposition than Florida State, but that is not saying a heck of a lot.
Still, if Florida goes down, in my opinion, CS Fullerton and LSU would be the best two teams left in the tournament.

Come on man. Lets break it down. LSU is on a 16 game winning streak and they've annihilated the competition. During the current winning streak LSU has scored 136 runs and their opponents have scored 45 runs. That is dominance. LSU lost 2 out of the three earlier in the year to Kentucky and Florida at their fields. They also weren't playing well. Maineiri changed the lineup, adjusted the pitching rotation and things started to click. Then LSU destroyed Kentucky and their ace by 10 run ruling them. In the championship game, LSU doesn't control who they play. They beat Arkansas who just happened to beat Florida in the semifinal 16-0 lol, but Arkansas sucks right?? LSU swept Auburn. Try again. You say we didn't play Missouri yet you say we beat them in the SEC tournament which we won 10-3. Quit trolling lol. The Shriners classic was played at the beginning of the year. Only LSU and TCU made it all the way to the CWS. You still think Baylor and Texas Tech are better than how LSU is playing at the moment??? Hell no. I'm not saying LSU isn't beatable, but it will take a really good team to do it which is why there are 7 other worthy teams in the CWS. If CS Fullerton scares you more than LSU you need your head examined. I believe whoever comes out of this bracket will win it all.

I also looked at who you beat all year. You weren't exactly beating juggernauts. Losing only 4 games all year is pretty damn impressive though no matter what. LSU has also beaten 2 of the teams in the CWS already and Oregon hasn't faced anyone of that caliber yet. Vanderbilt is a decent team, but they were only the 6th best team in the SEC.

A little friendly posting advice.... oregon is that puke green wearing team from Eugene. Never capitalized and often referred to as "hole" on this site. We are Oregon State, Da Beavs, OSU, O State Ballaz (baseball).... Thanks for abiding by our quirky rules
