While I'd love to see her and USC completely fail this year (I'm a petty, vindictive, ahole...online) there can be a lot more to the story than a simple stat line.

I don't know if she was a lockdown defender on the other teams best guard. Ole Miss did have a guard shoot 2-18, but not sure TVO guarded her. But yes, #3 USC beat #20 Ole Miss by 2. I'm not vindictive, and wish her the best (and USC the worst)...but even a stellar D with 0-5, and 4 fouls...meh.

I don't think she's as bad as this one stat line but IMO she was overrated while at OSU and could be due for a rude awakening.

With Iriafen (22/13), JuJu (27/10/4... with 9 to's though!), true Frosh Kennedy Smith (12/7), and Marshall not even contributing much... TVO really an after thought. SC has two other very talented true Frosh in Heckel and Howell that played some. And, the top class this year, deep pin size and athleticism. Although, they lost a top Frosh for the year early on, Laura Williams. Maybe overrated at #3, but they are talented.

On a team as talented as USC she is a compilatory role player. At best their 4th scoring option.

Talia was a leader on this team and played exceedlenly well, but jumped in 3 days. Very disappointed in her and wonder how much her leadership was responsible for the mass exodus? Also wonder how much Scott blames her for this? Hard to believe that a team that had a good chance to be a final four team imploded.

I remember one game where, I think it was Sherrod, got the ball to the left of the key and looped around to the right of the key getting two picks along the way. Talia was guarding her but she didn't even attempt to stick with Sherrod. Talia just ghosted straight across the key and was waiting for Sherrod when she got to the other side. Colorado was running out of time and had to just throw up a shot.
This was set up by Rueck giving Talia video and commentary so that she knew exactly what Colorado did and she knew when and where to be to stop the other them. Same thing on offense. Talia was really good in Ruecks system because she could take on lots of information from the staff and then use it. Can USC's staff help her in the same way? So far I'd say no. Personally I don't thing Talia appreciated how much OSU set her up for success, but we will see.

Her first game was a dud for sure, but it’s only 1 game. She had 3 fouls in the first quarter and never really got into the flow of the game. Plus it was close, so it was all running thru JuJu.
I think we will find that Timea and Reagan will be really good and have success in any program. But the others that transferred out were put it great places to succeed by Rueck. Playing with 2 all-American level players helped too. Those other 5 players will have mixed success, just as we have seen so far early this season. They are good players, but not nearly as good as they think they are.

I think, basketball-wise, Talia's final season is not going to be a dazzling one for her. New coach, new system, new teammates, and a career long propensity to commit turnovers. I don't know what young players USC has at her position, but she could quickly lose minutes if she doesn't do something dramatic. Maybe she and the football player are still an item, and the team will be very successful, so, looking back, she'll be pleased with her decision.
But, personally, I don't give a rat's ass what she does or how she does it. She chose to no longer be a part of 'the family', and I lost all interest in her.

Other than Regan and Timea I don't think any of the other girls will find anywhere near the success they had at OSU. Scott is a very good coach and recruiter that found pieces that he could put together and find success. It was a special formula that is difficult to duplicate in college sports today. Regan and Timea are special talents that will excel wherever they go. The others are very talented and high character women but they won't succeed outside the system that Scott put in place. This isn't a knock on the others. They are high character, hard working individuals that bought into Scott's program found success as a group. Unfortunately, they are unlikely to duplicate what they had at OSU somewhere else. That is unfortunately the new reality we find ourselves in.

The guard that went to TCU, I think she’ll have a successful collegiate career

I watched a majority of that game, especially the end.
USC has all the talent in the world, but it certainly hadn’t “meshed” quite yet. If we learned anything during Talia’s COVID year and last season, IMO it’s that she is most effective as a playmaker off the ball, not playing point like USC had her doing. They looked a mess offensively (26 turnovers) but have too much talent to be one of the top teams. Ole Miss was ultra athletic as well.
Watched the UCLA game as well and Timea was exactly what they needed - a stretch 4 to pair with Betts. She’ll be hard to keep off the floor because Dugalic and Barker don’t shoot the three nearly as well as her.

Agreed, beaverwbb. The loss of Timea hurt the most of all the losses.
