The Ducks were on autopilot the entire second half because they had the game well in hand. That wasn't the case against us, so comparing the final scores is not valid. Your other point is probably valid. IMHO, of course. Honestly just heckling those obsessed with rooting against Michigan State simply because JS left OSU (his best and right move) for MSU (albeit sloppy AF). Go Beavs, good luck to JS luck the rest of way, hope Hole gets crushed this weekend. See yall at Reno Techs quasi HS stadium Saturday. We want a coach who wants to be in Corvallis. He didn't, and he screwed up an otherwise great season, and last real CW.....good riddance to bitch tits

And I'll venture to guess with continued success, Trent Bray will also move up the ladder.
Hope at some point the "he didn't want to he here" folks realize OSU is and likely always will be a stepping stone job in the college football paradigm.

Some guys want to build a program, not climb the ladder to the top.

I don’t blame him for furthering his career, but if you think his “best and right move” was the MSU job, you’re nuts. That is a terrible job playing little brother to Michigan and Ohio St. His problem was impatience. He took the first job available. There were better jobs that came open later. His other problem was the way he left. There’s a classy way to leave with appreciation towards your Alma mater that gave you your first HC job and then there’s the JS way leaving with his foot in his mouth saying stupid s%#t. I don’t wish him good luck at all after the way he left. I hope he gets canned after 2 years and ends up back at Idaho.

So if thats your measuring stick Penn State, Iowa, and Wisky are terrible jobs. MSU has 3 Big 10 championships since 2000, 15 Bowl games, 1 college football playoffs appearance. Compare thst to...say...Oregon State. Michigan State has one of the biggest budgets in college football...the 12th highest revenue. Who would want that? What an idiot. But yeah he should have totally waited around on a sinking ship for that Bama or Michigan or Washington gig to open up 6 weeks later. Or better yet UCLA lol. Definitely think he could have got the Boise State gig.

Goes right along with the... amazing family atmosphere, how close teammates are, what tremendous human beings... then freaking traitors, losers leave when OSU needed them the most, pathetic canned social media announcements, etc What's new?!

That's Fandom. Hey I wasn't happy about it either, JS handled extremely poorly. but I contend we have no idea what was being promised or going on behind the scenes either. I do know he dug us out of an absolute crater of a hole. Without JS tenure we might be begging for a MWC invite. Whatever, its hard for me to be real invested in anything college football given the state of affairs, so ill just root for the Beavs, the coaches and players who are here, yet fully aware there will be more defections...expected and unexpected.

Exactly. The waste of space here and the emotion on such nonsense is weird. We all get disappointed, but the main focus is on the Beavers

But, pretty easy pickings when you think you know what's the best job for anyone other than yourself.

Definitely think he could have got the Boise State gig. Not what I said at all. Penn St., Iowa & Wisky are all much better jobs. MSU is basically a .500 football team for the past 9 years. Plus their AD department is a mess with the Tucker fiasco. And their last conference title was in 2015. Not exactly relevant today. Add on unrealistic expectations and it's not a good P4 job. Michigan and Ohio St. recruit all of the best players from that region and are way ahead of them as top programs.

You don't have to be a JS-hater to point out that the Michigan State is a horrible place to build your career. This is the school that enabled the physician working with the gymnasts (national team and their own) to molest countless young girls. (The school budgeted $400,000,000 to pay off the lawsuits.) The school stonewalled the Michigan AG office for years - and still does. And when a trustee attempted to get to the bottom of it, the administrators concocted a BS ethics violation in an attempt to have her removed - that has led to another couple million in legal fees.
And that's just the most public scandals. There are other examples of a toxic culture in that administration and they have deeply impacted the relationships with boosters. It's a sick organization, and I agree with those who question whether JS was smart to take on that particular job. That's not malevolence or schadenfreude - that's just a reasonable opinion on a topic of public interest.
