Basically the Memphis AD said the pac12 offer smelled like poop. And it looks like UNLV and Airforce got 20 to 25 million from the MWC to stay. There seems to be a bunch of bozos still in the pac12 offices. Is Larry and George still walking in the hallways? Sure sounded to me that he wants to keep talking.. or is open to keep talking. Hardly sounds dead yet.

The MWC commissioner has asked permission of the MAC commissioner to approach NIU and Toledo about becoming affiliate members for football. They still would need two more full-time members to become a recognized FBS conference.
College football is cray-cray.

I know you're disappointed in the short term in this apocalyptic scenario and it can seem pretty confusing being so far away and not having the level of familiarity that the rest of the southwest has but I promise you won't be half as disappointed with us in the long haul. We were somewhat in Oregon St's shoes in the 2012 WAC when we moved up and schools with far less enrollment like SJSU and Nevada were thrown the last life raft for the MWC and LA Tech and Texas- San Antonio got bailed out to go to CUSA while Texas State was left for dead. We're a pretty down to earth fan base unlike those you're familiar with from UW, UO and departed Bay Area members. We're committed to spending whatever money it takes to keep up with the rest of the PAC and moving up a conference only helps us retain and pay a coach who is looking for growth opportunities without being poached so he can continue to pump out 9-10+ win seasons on a yearly basis for the foreseeable future. Look forward to establishing some long-distance rivalries. It's Afghanistanimation!

To the idiots in the media writing that the Pac-7 and the MWC are now essentially equal conferences: * There have been 10 full-season MWC championship games. Boise, Fresno, SDSU, USU and CSU have combined to win all 10. * There have been 10 championship-game runners-up. Boise, Fresno, CSU, USU and SDSU have combined for seven of those 2nd-place finishes. * Our teams have filled 17 of the 20 championship-game berths. Theirs have filled three. We got the best. They kept the rest. The Pac 7 is by far the best G5/6 conference. Orams article today was ignorant AF, perhaps that is what you are referncing. Most of his articles are. He carries on the Oregonian's proud tradition of mediocre sports journalists.

This whole thing is a disaster. Yeah, not really. It is the sausage getting made. The issue with UNLV is exactly why they were not in the first wave to begin with. The Legislature is involved here. UNLV needed to show a clear financial benefit. MWC bribed them with $25M to stay, which entirely cleared their athletic department debt. For us, they would of had to take on more debt and we do not yet have a media deal, so it is only for the hypothetical promise of more money. Any level headed suit in the legislature should know the media in the Pac12 is going to be double, at least, what UNLV was getting in the MWC, and their is a real significant risk MWC gets less the next time around. They lost all their stars. But it is what it is. They got up front cash, and from what I am hearing, an unequal share in the future. Such is live, we only need one team, an there are plenty left. Texas State is looking really appealing, there are three directional Michigan schools, there are still plenty of options to go to. And we haven't even touched on what MWC going to do if they can't get the poaching money, which appears to potentially be a reality when I look into the lawsuit.

Hardly sounds dead yet. The bigger issue is Memphis wouldn't commit past 2030, so the Pac wouldn't commit money. that was that. If Memphis would of signed a long term GOR we would of paid their exit fees, but we were not going to pay $20M for a 4 year rental. They only wanted to come over for 4 years. We were willing to let them come over for only 4 years if they paid their own way. I think that is fair. I don't think that is a sign of a Bozo walking a hall. Would you of dumped $20-$30M on a team that wanted to bail as soon as the ACC collapsed to get back on the east coast?

One other thing I was going to add, if you follow the CFB boards on Reddit, most UNLV fans are livid.
They really wanted to go to the PAC.
They are going to end up regretting this one big time.
The other dynamic is the other MWC fans are pissed of UNLV and Air Force are getting paid off and their teams are getting nothing. Things are not well over there.

I agree, and actually think your estimate is a little generous. The teams left in the MW? Not teams that tend to draw eyes.

Especially now with USU. BSU, FSU, SDSU, CSU, USU... yeah, maybe. we might legit have 2/3rd of all the previous football eyes in past viewership now.

Why in the wide, wide, world of sports would Gloria, The Not So Brilliant, ask for permission to talk to another conference's schools. Did she not just observe what happened to the Pac when it was made way over-public about the AAC school grabs the Pac 12 was trying to observe? Good luck Gloria. I am sure the MAC is now making moves to blunt your attempts to grab their schools. Dumb.

A consultant did an evaluation and concluded Hawaii's media is worth $2.3 million. That's it. Ain't nobody want Hawaii, except to bet on them like a degen.
