At this point, if you can't get Gonzaga, just add two cheap football schools. Probably not going to work moving forward so the situation for the Pac-12 is to set itself at 8 and then wait to see if there's more realignment coming down the pike at some point. Unless...the AAC talks aren't really done.

Will portland state and Idaho say yes for a quarter share? The problem no one and that includes the pac6 know how much real money is out there.

I think there was a bigger reason for hesitation on the Pac-12 side that resulted in UNLV sticking with the MWC. Apparently the stuff about Nevada wasn't as a big of a deal as it looked to be. Maybe just the reality that UNLV really hasn't done much of anything in football for years except for last season and the first few games of this season.

San Jose State just committed to the MWC. Canzano reporting Utah St is going to be offered next. Someone has to say yes eventually... right? This is a disaster.
Social media is having a field day trolling the Pac-12

Who is on the “you’re fired” list for being this insanely incompetent. Why were the AAC discussions so public and slow. The Pac got the 4 top MWC schools because they were covert.
Moronically dumb. Is that a redundancy?

Should have just worked it with 5 MWC schools in phase 1 (including UNLV) Leaves MWC with 7 and they end up scrambling to keep the boat from sinking.
Here we are taking on water before we’ve left the dock.

Unless Utah State helps in drawing Gonzaga (which very well may be the case) there is no reason to add it. Otherwise, the Pac-12 is in panic mode.

Here we are taking on water before we’ve left the dock. Should have just invited the entire MWC and kept our cash. Then we could watch for the ACC unwind with money in the bank. But now we have another g5 conference and no cash in the bank

It is a rough day for the Pac-12, for sure.
Even with the poaching fee, however, I'm curious how MWC is going to play this. So they're going to pay AFA and probably UNLV a $10 million bonus. And they'll need to bump up their yearly amount. They had to pay SJSU something to stay committed, and they might have to do the same for Utah State.
But what happens at media renewal time? Even with UNLV and AFA... they won't have nearly the cities they need to keep their $5 million a year. Are they going to just step down to $3 million and hope something happens?
