If were being honest, with the AAC schools and AFA out and Gonzaga a maybe, The Pac-12 has missed on their primary targets, time to go to the back up plans. Eastern Washington? If they are going after IAA schools, they mise well go big and go after Montana and South Dakota State.

I think they need to finish the deal with Gonzaga and then make UNLV happen. That's not bad at all. While I've been adamant about not adding other MWC teams after UNLV, getting these two would be great. If you have to, maybe you then take San Jose State. I wouldn't be that excited about it but you get a team in a huge metropolitan area that is actually on the West Coast. Make it easy to add teams or to break it up down the road if necessary

Now being reported that the MWC may make an announcement later today that the remaining schools have recommitted to the conference. If they can't get UNLV or the other MWC schools, what options are left?

If they can't get UNLV or the other MWC schools, what options are left? North Texas and Texas State? I would remind everyone how little meaning these recommitting to our conference statements actually have in reality.

Would have been nice if discussions with other schools could have been kept quiet as they were with the 4 from the mwc.

They are not asking the MWC for a reverse merger no matter who they might have to consider adding.

In the end who will be raising the middle finger? Last week sounded very promising regarding adding a couple teams soon, real soon. Now not so sure.

I am wondering if this is a bit of a strategic blunder - maybe should have gotten to the minimum necessary 8 schools by grabbing 6 out of the MWC, since in poaching only 4 we provided a war chest that the MWC could then use to fend off any further overtures with lots of immediate cash. Then get back to 10 or 12 with shopping to the east. Hmmmmmm.

Get Gonzaga and the other two teams don't matter all that much. Would prefer UNLV as one if at all possible.

Me too. No desire to see the league footprint expanded beyond the Mountain time zone. But I realized a long time ago, they gladly take my money but have no interest whatsoever in my opinion. That's part of the reason they don't get anywhere near as much of my money as they used to. And several years ago could have brought in Texas and Oklahoma to the pac12. I guess since they are east of the mountain time zone that would have been a dumb move. It was a dumb move not to. And they would have still left for SEC $ and closer games/travel.

They took their shot. And it's not necessarily over but landing Gonzaga at this point would be absolutely huge. Then even if they fill out with two football schools that don't really move the needle, they would have some breathing room and time as far as future additions.
