Now add UNLV for Vegas footprint and potential. Do not add Utah State under any circumstances. There is no place for that school in the Pac-12 after all the garbage that has come out in recent years. No more MWC teams after UNLV. Absolutely not worth the money. Go into Texas for the eighth team to make it official (unless Gonzaga is willing to throw a football program together, lol) and then wait. If UTSA is out, I am not sure there is another Texas team worth getting... I'm pretty sure that UTSA is not out.

From what Barnes said they want 9 football schools so they can have 8 conference and 4 nonconference games. I wonder how much a basketball school like Gonzaga helps with the TV revenue? A basketball school that has a consistent history of earning playoff units should help.

That has changed and I'm pretty sure they do not want to water down the Pac-12 if they can avoid it. UNLV makes sense but no additional MWC teams IMO. Way too much expense for middle of the road G5 schools. UTSA makes sense because of the Texas footprint and the potential of the San Antonio market.

Wow... well I guess Tulane/Memphis, etc. wanted to play suicide. When ESPN does their look-in during 2026, they're going to decimate their payout. And they might get AFA, but that's about it. I'm sure part of the conversation at AAC is increasing payouts to all the programs mentioned, but where will they get the money from? UTSA goes to a full payout - where does even that money come from? AAC must have just wandered into a uranium mine surrounded by an oil field.

I'm pretty sure that UTSA is not out. UTSA is staying in the AAC according to reports now. PAC raid on AAC has failed That's the opposite of what Dellenger is reporting on UTSA. The UTSA Roadrunner emblem was included on the AAC media release but not sure that really means much of anything.

Priority probably should now be to build the strongest western conference, and get a TV deal with the potential for more IF eastern teams could be added later.
A few of those teams could get pretty antsy in a couple years time if the ACC doesn't come a knockin' and the Pac is making more than they are.
Everything doesn't have to be all done at once.

The Pac-12 has already done that if it adds Gonzaga. Other than UNLV, there is no worth in adding any other teams in the west except for other former Pac-12 schools and that's not happening anytime soon, if ever. The TV deal just plummeted in value (but will go back up with Gonzaga) and you will not increase it with the bottom half of the MWC. Bottom line, the Pac-12 has to add Gonzaga and UNLV and then figure out the No. 8 football school at some point.

Still really doesn't mean all that much as far as what actually might happen at some point. It's not as if this is a binding commitment to the AAC, it's just an announcement that is expected to be made.

Being reported that Memphis and Tulane wanted the Pac-12 to pay its AAC exit fee of 20 million, the Pac-12 offered to pay 2.5 million or it.

If were being honest, with the AAC schools and AFA out and Gonzaga a maybe, The Pac-12 has missed on their primary targets, time to go to the back up plans.
