I don't think there is a universe in which OSU/WSU weren't fairly transparent with what is likely going to go down. MWC saw this coming from a mile away. It is what it is. just like we couldn't stop our collapse, neither could they. It does suck.

As opposed to what the Huskies and ducks did.

What we did to the MW did not kill their conference. Maybe we hurt it a bit, but it is still alive, and it wouldn't be very difficult for them to find a couple more teams to fill in.
We were left in a dead conference with no lifeboat, except the offer to join the MW, which would have kept us from competing at the highest levels.
Yes, I understand how the MW feels, but they are still in fine shape.

13 plus months ago the Beavs, cougs, yucks, and fuskies were driving down a dark, desolate road together. The yuck asked for the vehicle to be pulled over. The vehicle stopped the yuck and fuskie got out. Each slashed a tire and took the keys. They then got into a waiting vehicle leaving us on that dark, desolate road to fend for ourselves. A year later we are off that dark, desolate road. We are doing what Beavs do - we build things. On Saturday there is going to be a reckoning. Go Beavs.

It is what it is. just like we couldn't stop our collapse, neither could they. It does suck. Plus...the MWC is getting VERY well compensated in this whole thing. Frankly, considering the relative value of these programs, they're making out like bandits. They leveraged our scheduling desperation to the max last year, and price gouged us good. I have no regrets about doing what's in our best interest and meeting the buyout obligations that are set up to protect and compensate them.

Say anything you want about USC and UCLA starting it, and that is a true statement. The killing blow was Oregon and Washington jumping in the 11th hour. Your analogy is apt. It really, truly, actually was, Oregon and Washington that killed the Pac as we know it. and like the real weasels they are, they want to try and say they had no choice. They had a choice. They had the choice to be the flag ships of the conference they sure wanted to crow about like they were. They sure wanted to act like they were. But when the chips needed to be dropped in the pot, they weren't the flagships of this conference. They were cowards running to another conference to be also rans with other bigger fish. I will always be prouder of OSU building something up. It does stink for what it takes, but like this article paints out, the MWC is formed of the blood of many a conference before it.

At the "11th hour," there were only nine teams left. I mean no offense to you ATown, because you seem like a cool dude. And this is not specifically directed at you. But the milk has been spilt. And I am tired of all the crying. Brighter days are ahead. Impotent handwringing about the past does not change the past or make the present or future any better. The Ducks suck. They have sucked for decades. Whether they are in the Pac-12 or the Big Ten, they will continue to suck. Blaming Oregon (the Greedo in my strained analogy) for stumbling into the real world equivalent of the Mos Eisley Cantina that is the Big Ten does no one any good. Let's shoot first on Saturday and leave that green bastard's lifeless corpse on the table. We're the rebellion, and we are taking down the Death Star this season.

Go Beavs. That is very dramatic but I think it works better if the Ducks and the Huskies simply pull over and force the Beavers and Cougars out and took off but I get your point and you are basically right . If all the reports of how it went down are correct I would say OSU and WSU handled it much more gentlemanly and on the up and up , They were nothing but transparent . The MWC being left with 7 members as opposed to 2 ... I think they will be ok

Michigan may be rebuilding right now but the rest of the Big Ten conference is still strong and i think in time Oregon will be in that " little brother " position they always tried to put OSU in
