I have a 16 year old daughter who is coming off a year long rehab from a knee injury, so the current furor over biological males competing in women's Olympic Boxing has some relevance for me. linkI'm all for people being able to self-identify however they wish socially. In competition, I have a real, real problem with it. I can't link to your article, but as I understand it, the boxer in question is a biological female with XY chromosomes and elevated testosterone. But I am not a biologist, so what do I know? Different scenario from the biological males that have transitioned to female and compete in women's sports, but still a weird scenario. And the fighter that quit, quit because of pain, NOT because of the gender or gender identity of the other fighter. BUT that's not how the general media portrays it...

Lol. I didn't, but I thought that I would throw it up there. My son did his fifth-grade report on Louis Armstrong a couple of months ago, so the famous Armstrong that I was thinking of was Louis Armstrong. In 1969, Louis Armstrong received fourth billing on the movie "Hello, Dolly!" In the movie, Armstrong sang the title song, "Hello, Dolly!" with Barbara Streisand. Armstrong's appearance in "Hello, Dolly!" was his final appearance in film. (A portion of the film features heavily in "WALL-E") Armstrong took more than six months off after "Hello, Dolly" to recuperate. Armstrong would tour the final 368 days of his life in 1970 and 1971, suffering three increasingly severe heart attacks, dying as a result of the final one on July 6, 1971. Love me some Satchmo! Your son has good taste! As a trumpet player he invented modern jazz. Simple and magnificent as that. 1928

In competition, I have a real, real problem with it. Just to reiterate what kersting13 said, the two boxers boxing as women in the Olympics are not transgender. The Russians disqualified both boxers as having XY chromosomes and indicated that one had an elevated level of testosterone. But that was only after one of the boxers defeated a Russian boxer. The Russians have never disclosed their test, and no one has published anymore concrete information about it. If the notoriously unreliable Russian tests are correct, both women may have something like Swyer syndrome. Whether an individual with Swyer syndrome is "biologically male or female" gets into a lot more biology than I know.

4x100 Mixed Medially race. What a crazy race. Two males, two females, but they can go in any order. So big leads can disappear quickly.
USA won over China and Aussies WR time
Track has a medally too but in those they have to run in a specific order so less drama

Were they originally Russian?

That makes more sense. It was the now-banned IBA, under Russian-dominated leadership.

She swam the fastest 100 of her life and touched just before the Chinese swimmer. I've become a member of the Huske fan club. Her game face was severe when getting ready for that heat!

If you didn't watch the team Judo gold medal round, you missed out. Japan v. France in a showdown. Insane. Japan took a 3-1 lead (4 wins claims victory). But the French fought hard to tie it. They determine the tie breaker by spinning a wheel to see which weight class will decide everything, and it came up in France's favor. The wheel favored France, stopping on 90+, the upper weight class, and out strode Teddy Riner. And the crowd was psyched!
Teddy won the match with a pretty cool ippon. Way to go, France!

And Oregon's own, Ryan Crouser, picked up his third gold medal. What a stud!
