UCLA typically charters three flights to each road game, one for the coaches and players, one for all of the luggage, and one for A-list fans. Whatever does not fit on those three flights is shipped by truck. Yay! More CO2!

People with money pay conmen in third world countries to plant trees for them ( and no one bothers to check how many times the same tree has been sold or if it was even planted). Such a quaint worry you have. UCLA is committed to being carbon neutral, obviously.

Football schedules normally include 6 home games and 6 road games. That would make the average distance traveled to a road game 1,833 miles, and, of course, an equal distance on the way home. Significantly different from an easy jaunt to Arizona or the Bay Area. Oh, well, f%#* 'em. Every other year one of UCLA's road games will be USC. No travel.

Football schedules normally include 6 home games and 6 road games. That would make the average distance traveled to a road game 1,833 miles, and, of course, an equal distance on the way home. Significantly different from an easy jaunt to Arizona or the Bay Area. Oh, well, f%#* 'em. Every other year one of UCLA's road games will be USC. No travel. Every other year one of UCLA's road games will be USC. No travel. But there will still be four Big Ten road games each of those years, as well. I believe that there will be even more conference travel, because they will get Washington at the Rose Bowl. UCLA's travel is so great this year, because they play at Baton Rouge and Honolulu. Yes, UCLA will always have four conference games outside of Los Angeles. And yes, f-them.

Aviation and travel is a miniscule part of said carbon footprint. As of 2023 a distant 9th in the top 10 list. Agriculture pra tices produce 4 times the emissions. I don't think the "10" traveling more is going to tip any scale. Not seeing complaints about the average of about 41k miles for EACH NBA team. Pac12's demise is what it is... but, carbon emissions ain't one of the issues.

So, for 6 UCLA football games, the school will cause 66,000 miles in airplane miles, which is more than 50% above what an NBA team will cause for 41 games.

Now consider MLB (30 teams x 81 away games... not counting any MiLB teams that fly), NHL, MLS, WNBA, etc etc etc. Point is... aviation is a drop in the bucket. Other Pac12 complaints my vary by person, but carbon emissions aren't even a speck on the windshield.

According to multiple sources that I have read: United States Department of Energy: Transportation #1 Where do you see transportation as anything other than first? United States Department of Energy says that transportation is the #1 cause of CO2 emissions. According to the United States Department of Transportation, transportation produces 39% of the nation's CO2 emissions. Air travel is only about 10% of that, but I have read before that CO2 from flying is more problematic, because it is easier for the CO2 to wind up in the atmosphere. Are you looking at global numbers? I imagine that transportation is less of a factor globally, and I also imagine that it may be easier to hide transportation numbers in other numbers.

One should lead by example - or pipe down.
