Kmatz did well, he was drafted by one of the better "player development" teams in MLB and he signed for $397,500 which was only 21k below slot in a year the Devil Rays were tight on pool money.
Just one more shining example of why prep stars should be smart and be a Beaver!

With Jacob Kmatz signing, Oregon State just has the two recruits, Zach Swanson and Adam Haight, who remain unsigned. The Tigers have signed 10 of their first 11 draftees with only Swanson remaining unsigned. The Tigers were able to cobble together $259,300 on top of the $195,100. So, the Tigers can make an offer of $454,400. Having said that, I have heard that Swanson is looking for something North of $500,000. Plus, the Tigers have four other high schoolers in the last 10 Rounds and Junior College player, as well, so we will see if the Tigers can get that all done. The Tiger fans seemed sure that they could get Swanson signed last weekend, but that confidence seems to have melted away since then.
The Mets have $599,200 to spread around to the final three players that they have not yet signed. I have not heard what they intend to do with that money. Haight is the final high schooler to sign. The other two players are in college at Houston and Mississippi State.

To reiterate, Swanson's Dad is a HS Teacher and Coach. I would like to think the family places a high value on a college education in spite of Swanson's remarks concerning being ready for a Pro career (the right thing to say) Frankly, I'm surprised he's still unsigned.
Haight is a different story. Everybody had him slotted in the first 4 rounds of the draft. He obviously didn't offer much encouragement for a MLB team to draft and sign him. Falling to the 20th round was an obvious draft and follow move by the Mets, certainly a pick thyey could give away. Frankly, I'd be shocked if he signs. I think he made it clear, he was dead set on attending OSU.

The Tigers go over to sign Swanson, a second high schooler, and a junior college pitcher out of Florida. $403,100 over. The Tigers pay $302,325 extra back to the other 29 teams in bonus pool tax.

Currently, the Mets are $198,300 over with two players left to sign. The Mets have $280,310 to spend before they lose their First Round pick in 2025. The first $150,000 would not count as to Adam Haight, but they only get that much money, if they sign Jaxon Jelkin with part of it, and Jelkin is a Junior. The Maximum bonus that the Mets could offer Haight is somewhere around $430,000. Haight appears to be the last piece of the 2024 draft puzzle.

Pretty much every team is willing to pay the pool tax to sign the right guy. No team is willing to go over the limit that will cost them a draft pick.

The Mets just announced their draft signing class without Haight, which is a good sign. The Mets also have not come to terms with their ninth rounder, unlike the Tigers.
