83-79 Ichiro. Kwan is hitting .389 to Ichiro's .358. The difference? Kwan is walking more. Kwan has reached base 101 times to Ichiro's 95.

MLB network did a 5 minute breakdown to Kwanny's season. the two most amazing numbers are that he is hitting .326 with two strikes which would lead all of baseball in overall average when he gets enough at bats to qualify (within the next two weeks). his slugging percentage for batters with over a 90% contact rate is the second highest in the stat cast era. when he does get the qualifying at bats he will be leading the AL in hitting by 65 points.

How many AB's does he require at this point? It's plate appearances, not at bats. PA to qualify = Teams scheduled games x 3.1 Right now that means 239. SK is at 231.

How many AB's does he require at this point? ftd is right. It is plate appearances, not ABs. He is eight away, which means that Kwan qualifies if he has 11 plate appearances this afternoon in Baltimore. As an aside, it is the third game of Cleveland @ Baltimore. Cleveland won the first two 3-2 and 10-8 and is going for the road sweep. Cleveland has the best record in the AL, and Baltimore has the third-best record in the AL.

That would be an interesting analytics stat for these 2, swing to put in play percentage.

And, last night's last out Kwan caught Adley's sinking liner to LF. Headed to Seattle next week for midweek series vs Orioles.

Here's a really good breakdown on how Kwannie has improved so much. www.mlb.com/news/steven-kwan-unlikely-sluggerTL;DR: He's not hitting the ball any harder. He's just reached the next level at identifying favorable pitches and situations and sending the ball the right direction. It sounds pretty easy.

HBP and SAC count as plate appearances, but don’t add to AB or BB, correct?
If that’s the case, Kwan is at 252 plate appearances (228 AB, 20 BB, 3 HBP and 1 SAC). Cleveland has played 82 games. I believe if he can accumulate 9 plate appearances in the next 2 games or 12 in the next 3 games, he’ll qualify.

Any time you come up to bat, regardless of outcome.
