Currently 1-1 against Mariners and batting average is 400. WOW, Ty Cobb, Ted Williams and Steven Kwan

Kwan has a higher slugging percentage (.566) than Adley (.472) and Giancarlo Stanton (.490) and is virtually identical with Juan Soto (.576).

I just saw something crazy. Kwan was robbed a hit. He's batting, one out, runners on first and third. Clean line-drive single into centerfield. Maybe the runner at first thought the shortstop was going to catch it? Anyway, he barely ran and was forced out 8-4. Kwan loses his hit and goes to first on a fielder's choice.

Can we add a “thumbs down” option to the replies? 😬

Adley isn’t doing bad either. Currently hitting .303 leading all catchers and 9th among all qualifying hitters.
Fun watching these guys have a lot of success.

Kwan is turning into a regular Babe Ruth. Homered yesterday, homered again today, he now has seven.

He’s like 30 plate appearances behind the minimum for counting toward the batting title right now because he got hurt so he’d need to stay healthy, but if he was eligible he’d be 59 points ahead of the current leader if I remember correctly. A batting title is entirely possible for sure I think the rule says 3.1 plate appearances per games scheduled. As of right now Cleveland is 49-26 = 75 games 3.1 = 232.5. SK has 200 AB..so he still has some catching up to do. How cool would it be to have two Beavs finish the season in the top 10 in BA!! Link to Kwan's stat page..hopefully it updates and the season progresses www.espn.com/mlb/player/stats/_/id/41996/steven-kwan

If sacs count he’s within single digits and should be there by the all star break easily. The point you made of two top ten Beavs, however, remains very valid and something that would indeed be awesome

He will do it easily if he stays healthy. Batting 1st he will get four PAs every time unless someone throws a perfect game.
A plate appearance is just that: Every time you go up to bat (and have a result), no matter the outcome.

A plate appearance is just that: Every time you go up to bat (and have a result), no matter the outcome. By my calculation he has 4.53 PA per game. If he continues at at that pace game 83, qualifying PA will be 257.3. and SK will be at 258.24. So six games from now! Basically mid-season. A LONG WAY to go. But it would be damn cool to see it happen..lots of pressure will be on him if he is close and it's September...

One thing he will have going for him is that Cleaveland should be in the thick of a playoff race. My perception of Kwan has always been he's a team first guy which will hopefully keep his focus on the big picture and not his batting average.

Game 83 is eight games, not six. That is the first game in July on the second against the White Sox.

Qualification is based on scheduled games, which yes is 75. At Cleveland game 83 the bar will be the 257.3 which is SK game 57 and a PA total of 258.24. You are correct it's 6 games, not 8. I wasn't good at math so went into accounting Either way he will be qualified soon and if he remains healthy will be fine the rest of the season
