Nobody thinks people are throwing at batters, except some drunk dudes around me. And one on this board. And McDowell.

totally. There's no way anybody is throwing at anybody at this point, not sure why they seem to feel there's anything deliberate about these pitches. You also don't throw breaking balls to send a message lol Yep. A curve ball 15 ft over the catcher does not send a message.

No way they are throwing at McDowell intentionally. Makes zero sense.

I don't think it's all bad, but we really had UCI on the ropes. They were already in the middle of swapping arms every 1-2 innings, just trying to cobble innings together, and Wilson said he was feeling like we'd land at least 10-12 runs on these guys. Now they'll get a chance to regroup, gain some more arms back, and we might have a more traditional game flow tomorrow. I still think we're well-positioned with our pitching in a more 'normal' environment, but this delay let the Anteaters get up off the mat.... If the worst happens, and we lose 2 games and the regional, I would definitely point to this delay as a major factor for that.... It's called SAFETY. The players safety comes #1 not OSU's advantage or disadvantage due to a delay. If you can't finish off this game or the 2nd if needed it's not the delay that caused it. If you attend regularly "cold" is not a factor in a delay scenario. But, this is by far the wettest, most consistently hard rain I've ever seen a game played it at Goss. Probably cuz any other "regular season" would have never started. I expressed no opinion on the merits of the delay, whether it should have happened or not. Just observing that it's a definite factor in the dynamics of this matchup, and gives UCI a little bit of new life when they were sucking wind pretty bad. And if the worst happens, and UCI pulls it out, it will be hard to look back and not think 'what if' about this delay. Kinda like we do about anything that doesn't happen to go our way in sports....

Players always think that. Doesn’t mean it was true. The 2nd guy they put in threw 4 50ft warmup fastballs. Nobody was trying to hit anyone. They just couldn’t hold on to the ball. It was only a matter of time until bats started flying out of hitter’s hands.

I should add, it's not all bad for us. We're lucky to get 5 innings out of Segura anyway, and he was probably almost done tonight. Better for us to have a break mid-game close to when we would have gone to the bullpen anyway. What really would have sucked is if May or Kmatz were throwing one of their gems, and a delay cut them off. I think we'll finish our business tomorrow....

No way they are throwing at McDowell intentionally. Makes zero sense. I never said I thought that. Right?

I was at RF section. Some angry fans were throwing water bottles and beer cups into the field for delaying the game when we walked out.

I was there. It was definitely wet but no wetter at the time the game was suspended than it was for most of the game. Pansy as_ NCAA umpires😜

I think best case was getting a few more outs from Segura and then the delay, but agreed that it's not all bad. We'll be OK tomorrow.

I attended. We've played in worse conditions in a couple civil wars a few years back. That was when we still had a dirt pitchers mound. Conditions are the same for both teams. No reason we should have stopped it. Umpire was adjusting strike zone it looked like to me. Game would have worked itself out.
Keljo could be awfully hard on them tomorrow if he's the same guy he was Friday night.
Whoevers decision it was to call it took too long and they communicated poorly. No reason to leave our team standing in the rain during the extended deliberation.
