The organizers of this year's banquet are going to have some interesting issues to deal with in their preparations. I'm guessing they are designing several different game plans for the multiple scenarios they could be facing when banquet time rolls around. GO BEAVS!!

There has been no word on a banquet this year as of yet. A couple of years ago the banquet was cancelled and as I recall the reason given was that Coach Rueck was out recruiting. It was the same year that Brown and Jones elected to enter the transfer portal.

jefframp - - thanks for the info.....
I've attended several banquets, and they are always very special events - always worth the trip and the expense.
However, I will say that it will be a tough decision not to commemorate this "Elite Eight" season. Not to mention two wins over Oregon, beating Notre Dame before a National audience, and thrilling, absolutely thrilling, victories in Gill against Arizona & UCLA....
This has been one of OSU's greatest WBB seasons to honour and celebrate.
Before our eyes we watched an Oregon-raised frosh become one of the conference's premiere guards in its final Pac 12 season; a post player, in her second year at OSU, become one of the best and most skilled in the country; a wing player come off a first-year injury to become one of the best outside shooters in the conference; a slender bench player mature into a deadly 3-point shooter and an excellent defender; a rookie from Europe who learned to attack the basket and establish herself as an OSU star of the future.
Yes! A great deal to honour and commemorate. GO BEAVS!!

Special year, with special players, which could lead into another special year.....

Given the current circumstances, probably shouldn’t schedule banquet until after May 1 when the portal closes.

Don't waste your money celebrating six or seven players who will have entered the portal and bailed on us in our time of need. A great season that meant so much they chose to leave less than two weeks after it ended.
Donate that money to the program.

Wouldn't Wouldn't it be a little awkward to have a banquet when eight of the players who bailed show up? Wouldn't those players feel a little awkward attending the banquet when they entered the portal? That would be like a worker attending a company Christmas party after informing his boss he is leaving to work for a competitor.

Let's celebrate what this team accomplished this year without prejudice. They deserve it.
The collapse of the Pac-12 is not their fault, and without insider info, we have to believe that is the main contributor to the transfers.

This set up sounds like the players will be kept separate from the crowd so no awkward questions can be asked. I do hope we get to say thanks to those staying, but probably not.

Interesting - a 'banquet' with no banquet, just appetizers. In normal years, with the Elite Eight appearance, it would have been a can't miss thing for me. With the Elite Eight giving way to the Exodus Eight, however, I'll honor my book club commitment instead - I'm a firm believer in honoring commitments.

The collapse of the Pac-12 is not their fault, and without insider info, we have to believe that is the main contributor to the transfers. Still makes it an awkward situation. You would think the players leaving would feel a little out of place attending a team banquet when they are leaving via the portal. It isn't like some of them used up their eligibility. All of them still had eligibility left. Doesn't matter what caused the players to go in the transfer portal. It happened and it will be an awkward situation. Both ways not just one way.

Dinner to go for those in the portal. Pick it up at the door.
More "Thanks for everything you did for me/us, we loved it here, we're family, we're America's team, now I'll/we'll see you later" word salad from the bailers.
Celebrate schmelebrate.
