I think I'll hold off on the hall of fame inductions for Scott and Palmer until they actually face a team that's not one of the worst hitting teams in the country. Haha, I was waiting for Smails or rgeorge to come into this thread and poo poo on people being excited with Scott’s and Palmer’s return. Has anyone seen the “Debbie Downer” skits on SNL? Obviously it was one inning against lower competition, but the stuff is there. Just watch them throw and you can see that they will bring some much needed talent to our bullpen. You can’t deny, regardless of the competition, that Palmer’s arm looked electric. Haha.....Gonzaga is #291 out of 295 D1 teams in BA........Haha. Yes, he throws hard, but takes more than that to be an effective pitcher. Dylan Davis threw 100 when he pitched in a few innings here, didn't make him a pitcher.

In his delivery of the pitch, on first take Palmer looks like a young right handed Randy Johnson. Between this and the post above it, "Palmer looks like a young Skenes! Scott looks like a Pro with command." why stop there? Maybe he looks like those with a bit of Roger Clemens attitude, Nolan Ryan's delivery, Tom Seaver's control, and Bob Gibson's intimidation all mixed together.

I would've went with a Sidd Finch comparison.........but, yeah.

On the bright side Laif is alot more accurate than Davis or Quinn. He's got more presence than Babe Ruth on the mound and probably drinks twice as much in the dugout. Legend already made that Palmer.

If we get just a few quality innings total from those 2 guys, it will be beneficial. If Lattery returns for a couple of innings per week, the staff will be solid. Lots of ‘ifs’ right now, but there should be enough quality arms to stop the total collapses from the pen.

"Palmer & Scott getting into last night game could not have come at a better time"
The above observation (by me) somehow spiralled into a hyperbolic comment about waiting on "hall of fame"....
All that I meant by the original comment, is that with the bullpen sorta scuffling the past few weeks, that it's nice to have a couple of additional arms (hopefully healthy) - both of which had effective an inning against D-1 hitters (even 'bad' ones) last night!!
It ain't 'Hall of Fame'....It ain't 'Omaha here we come'!
It's simply a recognition that two more arms (if they can do the job) is a good thing.
And It Is!

It was directed at the OP and badwack for the comparisons they made. It is great to have them back.

USC is #254 out of 299, and they made our staff look like, well…choose your own adjective. I’ll take the excitement/hope of the other poster 😂

I understand the hesitation, but I side with the optimists. It’s only early April, so if he can get a little regular action, maybe he will be able to come on strong for the regionals. Or he’ll, I’d be happy if he just sees light work this year but is starting next year.
It’s never bad news when a young pitcher throws a dominant and impressive inning. It isn’t the full picture, but it’s a hint.
