Pope and Ibekwe are still at Oregon State. May Day is the deadline to transfer out for real. Pope was told some amount of money in the portal, but we will see if that actually materializes. I do not know what is going on with Ibekwe. I believe May day is the deadline to ENTER the Portal. Once in, you're in, and you are free to look elsewhere and do the actual transfer whenever you find a place. Several key changes: - 45 day vs 60 day window. May 1st is the deadline to enter; - NCAA is pausing all investigations into NIL collectives and involvement in recruiting due to numerous lawsuits; - NIL reps can deal directly with recruits/families that are in the portal; - direct contact will allow formal paperwork to be shared. The vast amount of misinformation on NIL #s was due to verbal jousting. Players/parents giving out false offers to get more. Collectives giving out #s that they could never meet and the vast majority of players never received promised amounts. Now collectives will be held to written contract amounts and can ask players to see what others actually offered vs taking their word. From several articles not only are fans being "fooled" by all the BS #s, so are players. Exaggerated amounts have led players to believe they to should get that much when the big money never existed. Much is due to players getting bad advice... from advisors or family. Unfortunately many players have not only found that the grass is not greener, but sometimes they're is very little grass at all.

Unless and until Pope actually transfers, it does not change anything one iota. Have there been instances where players entered the portal, but didn’t leave? I know people portal and then don’t get picked up eg Chance Nolan. I've seen anywhere from 6-10% come back. If the 1800+ lady season, it was estimated 45% didn't find a new scholarship situation. They walked on D1 or played at lower levels. Some signed over seas.

Another BS statement. Exactly why I don't give money to NIL, but to facility and program enhancement. Not going to be a sucker and pay for some kid to bail at the drop of a hat. The athlete says we did all these great things, loves (your city here), loves the fan base, will always be a (insert nickname here), takes NIL money from the fanbase, and then just leaves. Fine if you don't agree. It's just my opinion. And my money. And we're fools if we are paying his spring term scholarship. You portal, no more money. Yeah I believe I've made that same point about my $ and others in my group of friends. If course I was told it was just the opposite... that $ should go to the NIL.

You said that before the P12 Tourney. You’re losing credibility. Your optimism is admirable, but at some point a person should be realistic. Come on... you know better. Defends WT's #s to the bitter end. Nothing different here. But... you know in the WBB thread it was mentioned if multiple players were leaving maybe it was SR taking the UT job. So??😉

Hmmmm….I think it’s close enough to call it. I meant the portal entries aren’t over. Still waiting on Tyler to announce. Mike is most likely to announce too.

I guess this shuts the door on those saying how much better we’ll be when the team returns next year. Wanna start guessing number of wins now to avoid the rush? Well that door was basically shut after Tinkle’s moves last off season. I think the start of this off season proves Tinkle is trying to navigate the new college landscape with a 20-year-old map while other coaches are using GPS. Lack of NIL money will be thrown about as the reason for all the departures. And while an issue, the biggest problem and main reason we are here is Tinkle’s approach and inability to construct a roster. The good news is that according to Wilky there are 5 schools in WCC that are basically just like playing good high school teams. Certainly our nearly $3M coach can put together a team that can beat those quality of teams. So that means depending on how the schedule works out, Beavers are assured 7-10 conference wins.

Maybe Tinkle can use $2 million of his salary to buy a team.

Just wondering does this make the team younger or older? This guy would help address the we’re too young issue.

Just wondering does this make the team younger or older? This guy would help address the we’re too young issue. Actually, he wouldn't. Still has 3 years of eligibility. That means he'd be a Sophomore. The "young" part for OSU refers to the fact that almost all the players were underclassmen. FR/SO. not their actual age.

Not a surprise. Our programs, not just in MBB, are taking a transfer hit. If/when it hits baseball, our best sport, that will really suck.
The conference realignment rush [Or, if you prefer, Greedy $$$$ Grab] has certainly changed things for us. It is difficult to remain optimistic about our athletic future when we have been told [wrongly] that we do not matter. Blowing up the traditions and achievements of a 100+ year old conference doesn't matter, either. All that matters in college athletics right now is television ratings, which means more $$$$. Traditional college sports as we know them are effectively dead.
I have been a Beaver fan since 1993. That's 30+ years for someone is not a native Oregonian and who grew up as a UW fan. If all I cared about was athletic wins and losses, I would have left long ago and become [shudder] an effing _____ fan. But I did not--the school, what it stands for, what it does for all of us, to me transcends our athletic program. So I am sticking around. Wherever we end up, I am rooting for the Beavs.
Gnaw on.

I'd be okay buying that logic - that they are finding out money isn't out there. But if that's the case, why aren't they just opting back out of the portal and staying? There has to be something else driving the decisions. Other than that our team and coach currently stinks and we're dropping down to a lower level.
