Pope announcing his destination — Texas or Texas A&M — on Wednesday. Sorry Wilky, looks like he’s not returning.

Yeah, who does he think he is trading some of his minutes and points for opportunity to find team success and wins.

If he's happier playing far less on what should be winning teams, good for him.

Tyler Bilodeau commits to UCLA. Who knew we had Big 10 caliber players On our roster? It will be curious to see how Tyler does competing against 3 players who were 4 star recruits (2 were fairly high 4 star recruits) coming into college for playing time. I think he should do well, but it’s not a given. Last season wasn’t exactly a great season for UCLA, it’ll be interesting to see how it does next season.

[sorry Henry you don't have to read the next couple paragraphs if you don't want to Beaver talk starts in third paragraph] Tyler will probably play some 5 (by which I mainly mean be tasked with defending the opposing center much as 6 7 Cody Riley did the first three years of the Cronin era), but in general he isn't going to be hurting for PT. He'll be either our best or second best offensive player on day 1, and despite his rep Mick loves guys who can score. It will be very interesting to see how we do, as we're looking at probably 6 incoming transfers and as many as 4 new starters when the dust settles. Mick failed to bring this past season's team with a ton of new guys together, but of course this time the new guys are actual proven college players. I expect us to be preseason Top 15 in the polls and higher than that in KenPom and the like that just take recruiting rankings and returning production into account. I will say that our suddenly elite NIL has pretty clearly been a gamechanger. Obviously OSU probably can't aspire to that level, but getting something to where OSU can be consistently a top 3 talented WCC program (and thus a potential tourney team) feels very doable. Heck, it looks like Wazzu was able to keep Jaylen Wells, who could be enough on his own to get them into the top tier of the conference. But maybe you guys need a new coach to inspire the fanbase for that.

If he's happier playing far less on what should be winning teams, good for him. I’m sure he’ll be plenty happy winning more and possibly seeing some postseason action. And as a fan who appreciates players who put winning over their minutes and “getting theirs,” I hope he is. If he chooses Texas, minutes might not be that hard to come by as I believe they lost their starting backcourt. Not sure what else they have coming in. I know TA&M has their leading scorer back, who is a guard. Whichever he chooses, just being able to practice against better players will help him. Not sure how much the other guards on the Beavers the last 2 years have been able to push him.

In the season that just finished, UT had grad transfer Max Abmas from Oral Roberts. He scored much less at Texas but was still a key player. Pope could probably fill that role.

Yep, and they also lost Tyrese Hunter, their other starting guard, to portal. Both of those guys averaged over 30 mpg. Beaver fans might remember Hunter as he played against Beavers in the second game of his career when he was at Iowa St.
