Timing probably not right for Pope to Westwood given how quickly Clark jumped and he's probably not a fit with Andrews in the same backcourt anyway. But yeah...Pope is getting far more than $100k if he goes to the highest bidder. UConn beat us out for Cam Spencer with $600k, and that was last season. Still looks like we're targeting Bilodeau, though apparently a PF from Oklahoma State is visiting and expected to commit this upcoming weekend. It's possible we think Bilodeau can play some 5, especially if Bona leaves. Speaking of which, apparently Bona's offer from the UCLA collective is for well above an NBA 2 way contract, which is a bit more than $500k. So that's where the numbers are at right now from our POV. Oh, and good luck with Skyy. As an Illinois fan also, I have a feeling you’ll need it. It sounds like Sencire Harris will be back for Illini. Can’t wait to see Skyy’s response when Harris is draped all over him in their 2 (1?) games next year. The good news for you and the team is Skyy will likely transfer after next year. I'm actually surprised we took any shooting guards given that you can probably expect Sebastian Mack to improve his shooting and defense next year, but actually it's looking like we also have Dominick Harris coming in from LMU so I don't even know if Mack will stick around. But that's probably how UCLA can get discounts on NIL--players transferring home (Clark and Harris are both from the LA area) so we can spent the money on guys like Kobe Johnson, a power forward, and either Bona or a starting 5 transfer. Either way, Skyy is probably mostly getting backup 1 minutes and sharing time at the 2 and will have committed knowing that, so we'll see. No matter what happens in the portal, it'll be Dylan Andrews' team though. And of course, Mick Cronin is our coach so really what matters is who plays the best D

Only a very small portion of kids that have joined the portal have committed to anywhere. They have about a half a year or so to find a spot. It's quite early yet. I believe the portal closes May 1. That just means the deadline for entering; once you've entered you basically have until you enroll (technically everybody who has "committed" somewhere in the portal is not actually bound to the school until they enroll in classes). Cam Spencer (who we badly wanted) committed to UConn last June.

If not, wouldn’t call him best teammate. Love the Kobe Johnson pick up for your guys.

Alex, you sound like a great guy and it's not personal at all but I (and probably many others here, on an OSU message board) no longer care what's happening at UCLA. Once our baseball series has been played, UCLA is essentially irrelevant to OSU (and vice-versa).
It's like one's relationship with many high school friends after graduation. Been nice knowing you. Have a nice life. See you at the 20-year reunion.

alexm:
It is the slow or off season. Things here in Beaver Nation are a bit frustrating. As long as you continue to post respectfully...which you have...stick around. You've helped add to the knowledge that is here. HS and george don't speak for the whole board. Discussing "other" schools and not Beaver related may be better on a different board(I see how this has gone off the rails, as so many threads on a message board do.) but don't leave because a few can't be cordial. Cheers!

I just don't care to read about UCLA basketball on an OSU basketball message board, especially since we most likely will never play them again. I don't think I'm alone there. Even though USC was the valuable property (Brooklyn Dodgers) and they were the discount-bin throw-in (New York Giants) on the move to the Big Ten, they helped stab us in the back.

Good for him. Seems like an appropriate landing spot. Hope he does well.

But it wasn't the UCLA fans. It was Chancellor Gene Block, who is an Oregon grad. F#*k that guy. And, even if UCLA had not bolted, the result is probably exactly the same.

Do these schools like undersized guards that don’t play D?

Do these schools like undersized guards that don’t play D? Probably more than we’re going to like guards that can’t score or play D who Tinkle will run out there next year.

It will be curious to see if this Meithof kid recovers and pans out. Talk was he was expected to start and scoring was a strong point, I think it was mentioned he was good defensively as well. Lake was pushing for playing time this year. I'd argue he's a step up defensively except when Akanno was on a mission to shut someone down. Craig looked like a shooter in limited play, but it's very tough to say if he'll be a good player based on his limited minutes. Somehow I think we'll end up with more than 6 players on next year's team. It's hard to say what we might see. It could be an interesting year ahead, it could be a painful year ahead, it could be a bit of both.

It could be an interesting year ahead, it could be a painful year ahead, it could be a bit of both. Saw that Lake is now on scholarship. Congrats to him. I am curious to see how he pans out with what will likely be very little talent around him. You are setting the bar pretty low for Tinkle — more than 6 players on next year’s team. Though considering the lack of news on recruiting, he might not reach that bar. I’ve asked this several times, but have never really gotten an answer. Is the lack of news about recruiting (transfers and HS) because the PNW is not well covered by recruiting and college basketball sites or is there a lack of work being done by staff and Tinkle? Obviously there is work being done that isn’t reported as a lot of their signings seemingly come out of the blue, but I find it strange about lack of press. Recruiting news on Pac 12 in general was fine without a lot more information on Oregon and the two WA schools. There is also plenty of news on Beavers football recruiting. So why such sparse news on what WT and staff are doing? Well let’s hope we hear about some surprises soon.
