Arizona better get their sheet together or they are going to cost us a couple mil. They’re done. Just as I projected. No team past the sweet 16. Not a great league this year.

Arizona has lost to a team seeded at least 4 spots below them in each of their last 6 NCAA Tournament appearances. It's the longest streak by any team since seeding began in 1979.

To be fair, there are a hell of a lot of schools that would be very happy to 6 NCAA appearances since 2016 with 3 of those making it to Sweet 16. But, yeah, some bad losses.

Well, "bad losses" also assume accurate seeding. Year to year it's been pretty obvious the committee doesn't do a great job with some selections and seeding. I do not watch a lot of other conferences, but enough to know only UConn and Purdue seemed to be true #1's. In watching several Arizona games this season there is no way I see them as a typical #1 seed. But, I've thought that the last few years the #1's were less dominate teams than in the past. The same with the overall field. More like a couple true 1 seeds, half dozen 2-4's that are in consistent. And, 5-11's that are a coin toss. Parity? Portal caused? But, could be me as I've slowly lost interest in watching a lot of the games. But, I've thought that the Arizona, UCLA, Kentucky, Duke, NC, etc types are auto seeded 2-3 higher just on reputation.

They’ve had problems from the line, but had been better last half of season. Rodgers and Dainja have been bad, but not too bad over that same time period. That ended last night. Shannon’s problems were surprising. They’re gonna need some luck to beat UConn. Huskies look real good and have the size to match Illini’s.

Not so fun fact: Oregon State is 1-6 all-time against teams 3+ spots below them. The one win was against Pepperdine at Beasley Coliseum on March 14, 1982. The Beavs lost all six other games. Oregon State defeated one team within three spots, #3 Idaho in Provo on March 18, 1982. Prior to 2021, Oregon State was 0-3 lifetime against teams seeded higher: losses to #1 Georgetown, #7 Notre Dame, and #5 Louisville. In 2021, Oregon State won three games against higher seeds: #5 Tennessee, #4 Oklahoma State, and #8 Loyola-Chicago. The Beavs picked up their fourth loss to a higher-seeded team in a 67-61 loss to #2 Houston.
