Me too. But they won. So I'll try to polish a turd by gladly acknowledging they earned us and Wazzu $1 million each spread out over the next six years by winning tonight. Last year, each unit was worth about $2.05 million. Probably worth more this year, but we will have to wait and see. Still, $1.025 million is absolutely nothing to sneeze at. $2.05 million for each win the Pac-12 delivers in the Tournament, too. It can all add up very fast.

Colorado could earn us an additional unit by winning the play-in game.

Is it too early to speculate on where Pope goes? My guess is he goes to UCLA and joins his buddy Bona I think Dylan Andrews' huge games against OSU were in direct response to some of the chatter that Mick was enamored with Pope. I don't think we (UCLA) can carry two slender, ball-dominant, shoot-first points, so I assume we'll keep Dylan. On the other hand, I will say that Bilodeau feels like a pretty strong plug-and-play fit on our roster (PF was not a major strength at any point this year), but we'll see.

Chatter on Pope is pretty funny as Mick made zero overtures to recruit him. And, Pope in no way fits Cronin's defensive mindset. Pope is a "one-trick" pony. As witnessed vs any set of athletic guards he has issues finding room on his own and is basically nonexistent as a defender. Anything can happen, but I've had conversations with TB's family. He is NOT a big city kid, loves Corvallis, and the family thinks teams going to the B10 was stupid. IF TB is lured away it would be to a school like WSU.

Five. Good hustle. I did not count on the Pac-12 being up year over, though I should have factored that in. Using Ken Pom, for example, Oregon State had a predicted conference record of 1-19. Instead, Oregon State went 5-15. A similar deviation would have made Oregon State 9-11. That is all to say that there is always a bit of guessing at all of this. But I cannot see Oregon State losing more than say once to any team that is currently in the middle or in the bottom half of the West Coast Conference. The odds seem remote. There is an appreciable talent differential. I went to Pepperdine Law. I played basketball at Firestone Fieldhouse, back when I lived in Malibu. It is like a nice, big high school gym, and Pepperdine so rarely fields a decent squad. I cannot imagine Oregon State losing to Pepperdine at Gill or at Firestone Fieldhouse. It seems so highly unlikely as to border on laughable. But maybe I just have a twisted sense of humor? Those games against Loyola, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, and San Diego should not be close. They are not like playing against bad Pac-12 teams. They are like playing against a good high school team. You see those teams beat good teams every once in a long while early in the season, while one team is jet lagged and the bad team is fresh. That happens. But even then it is rare. It is hard for me to see it happening more than once next year. Having said the foregoing, I also could not see 2006 Oregon State, fresh off a College World Series appearance come in and drop two of three at Eddy D. Field either, especially after running into the team at an In N Out. But it happened. It certainly is possible. It just seems laughably improbable. When I say laughable, usually it is because your post makes me laugh. As in, how does someone I know who is so highly intelligent in life and in basketball come up with this stuff? We are coming at this from different directions, which happens. I am sure that some of my stuff makes you respond similarly. No disrespect intended. You lost me when you said the conference is up this year. The conference sucks ass this year despite whatever stats you will pull out of nowhere. It will show in the tournament. Arizona is the only one that has a shot at the sweet 16. Oregon has no shot at the Sweet Sixteen? Someone better tell the Ducks. Oregon State's two single digit losses are looking pretty legit at this moment.

I even picked them in the Sweet 16 in my bracket.

If you remove Oregon State, i.e. the Beavs don't play themselves: Average Pac-12 NET 2018-19: 107 Average Pac-12 NET 2019-20: 60 Average Pac-12 NET 2020-21: 63 Average Pac-12 NET 2021-22: 78 Average Pac-12 NET 2022-23: 84 Average Pac-12 NET 2023-24: 76 Again, you can pull whatever stats you want to out of your ass. The PAC 12 is not a good league this year. That will show in the tourney. And justifying why we finished last is just horses%#t. I love the “our record this year would have normally finished in 10-11 place”. Who the f%#* cares? Garbage is still garbage. Man, you just never know. We might all lose on Friday and Saturday but so far we're 4-0 and will earn the Pac-2 $16 million and change over the next six years. One more good day and we're really in the money.

Colorado plays Florida at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in Indianapolis. $2+ million on the line. I would be more excited, but, the last time that the Pac-12 had this good of start in a Tournament, Colorado dropped their second game to Florida State in Indianapolis.

Oh those losses were legit. I saw them in the loss column. Oregon State looked like more of a Tourney team against Oregon than South Carolina did. I think you’re on to something there. I can see our new recruiting and fundraising pitches now. “Come play for/support Oregon State. We lose to tournament teams by less than they beat their first round opponents.” That pretty much sums up where the program is. That this is even a noteworthy “accomplishment” let alone one that some people might think deserves being celebrated says it all.

Question on the NCAA tourney credits - do we need to remain in the expanded/rebuilt version of the Pac-2 to receive in the coming years or do we lose the credits if we were to join another conference?

Question on the NCAA tourney credits - do we need to remain in the expanded/rebuilt version of the Pac-2 to receive in the coming years or do we lose the credits if we were to join another conference? The one correct answer in law school. It depends. A lot of the reason that we won the case in Washington against the Pac-12 was because we said that were going to rebuild the Pac-12. If we do not, in fact, rebuild the Pac-12, I think you are going to get the other 10 (or at least everyone but Colorado) coming back to try and get their piece of the leftover credits. We will see.

Thought uo had a chance when they got in, but lack of depth in OT cost them.
