I'd like to see clean defense, and very limited free passes from our staff today. Specially from the guys with experience. Kmatz should be on the mound so I'm hoping for 5+ innings of frustrated batters.

I just want the Beavers to get out of Surprise with 4 wins even if the opponents have taken themselves down with tough, previous games. Just the experience with playing on natural grass after months of just artificial turf is tough. Those hard shots to third that weren’t fielded cleanly yesterday may well have been picked on Reser turf. A night and day difference.
If Minnesota has a depleted staff today, fine with me. The value of playing on the grass field is the biggest benefit.

Yeah, at least two games before we give up on him. Good thing none of us managed the 1951 New York Giants, when that Mays guy started out 0-for-24 or something. Whatever happened to him, anyways? Mays started 0/12 and then 1/26 but hit the ball hard (homered off Warren Spahn, still the winningest lefty in Major League history) and played great in center. Guerra did not inspire at first or at the plate. It is one game. As said above, though, I hate sacrificing defense at first, unless it is absolutely necessary. Guerra has also proven himself to be a quality Pac-12 hitter. Perhaps he is best suited as a DH.

I'm perfectly happy if they trash a BIG10 team with smiles and giggles. Don’t get me wrong. Of course, I will be giddy with delight to see another performance like yesterday. But there’s value in playing a team straight up. I have heard an unofficial saying of the top brass of the American Navy to junior officers is, "If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, we have done something wrong." There will be times, when we are in a fair fight or times when we are at a disadvantage, but I will cheer on a result that gives Oregon State an advantage.

I saw enough today that I won’t be saying that I want to face anybody at their full strength. Minnesota put up a helluva fight.

I mean, everyone but May would basically be at or near full rest on Monday. I hear you...but Lattery in there suggests strong to me we'll see Segura start on Monday...but we'll see Or Segura starts Sunday. Wow.

Seems like a pretty good decision so far.

I think the rotation this game has more to do with Arlington at this point. That tourney is loaded and they have it lined up so may matches with Arkansas game one assuming they avoid short rest (credit to zero)
