That ground ball to Caraway should have ended it. Instead, the inning continued. Mejia gave up that four-pitch walk and then could not get the second hitter, allowing a three-run double. Instead of 15-2, it was 15-6. Caraway has a big bat, but he needs to grow up fast at third. Hopefully, Guerra gets going. Cannot have him do absolutely nothing in the two-hole, and he needs to figure out first base, if he is really going to be there. I said before the game that I thought that Krieg should start. Krieg looked better than Guerra at first. Only two southpaws in the bullpen. We really need Keljo and Mejia to kill it this year, but the defense really needs to help out the lefties, when they are on the mound. One game... Guerra will be fine. There's a reason he's batting 2nd. Its always nice to get out big and clear the bench. Again, one game, but who knows, maybe Krieg will be needed in the pen. Always some good laughs to be had reading the takes on here.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on there. I'd agree Krieg could/maybe should start and then you could move Guerra to DH...but it's not like you can get Tyce Peterson out of the lineup after that performance.
Hopefully it all works out, but it's not like we can wait forever for Guerra to get things going.
Yeah, at least two games before we give up on him. Good thing none of us managed the 1951 New York Giants, when that Mays guy started out 0-for-24 or something. Whatever happened to him, anyways? We need to see 10 AB atleast!

Always some good laughs to be had reading the takes on here. I like Krieg. He is a beast of a man......but Guerra at times was our best hitter last season, and was crushing the ball late in the season. In 52 games he hit .326 with 12 HR's 18 doubles and led the team with 56 rbi's......he should be expected to be an everyday starter. We have the luxury to speculate who should be starting because we are super deep. I was half joking about Krieg being needed in the pen, but he has seen the mound for us sparingly, and losing an inning eater in Jimenez.....and how Mejia looked today.....anyway, it's one game, and overall we looked as advertised. I'm really excited to see how Kmatz looks tomorrow, and who comes in from the pen.....Keljo maybe? Mundt?

Minnesota and Bakersfield burning up their best relievers. Plus, Minnesota using their projected starter for Monday against the Beavers.

Interesting with Lattery here...Monday very up in the air who starts It is interesting. Even though Lattery and Mejia weren’t sharp today, I think they both pitched in a blowout win to set them up for pitching in the first 2 games in Arlington. I mean, everyone but May would basically be at or near full rest on Monday.

Mays started 0/12 and then 1/26 but hit the ball hard (homered off Warren Spahn, still the winningest lefty in Major League history) and played great in center. Guerra did not inspire at first or at the plate. It is one game. As said above, though, I hate sacrificing defense at first, unless it is absolutely necessary.

If he pitches on Monday, he wouldn’t be the Wednesday starter. My bet is he is the Wednesday starter.

But there’s value in playing a team straight up. If we need to play Minnesota straight up we probably have a mild worry. They were like bottom 3 of one of the worst major conferences in baseball last year. Last year in game 2 we barely beat them 8-7 which ended up being a sign of a slow start to conference play. Hoping this year we are rotating in bench guys by in the 6th with a healthy cushion.

I'd like to see clean defense, and very limited free passes from our staff today.
