Guess that's why our relief pitching isn't respected. Damn.

I don't remember the Beavs hitting more than 6 in a game before? Maybe a while back. Oregon State last hit three home runs against LSU in what turned out to be the 2023 Baton Rouge Regional Championship Game. 13-7 Tigers. Oregon State last hit four home runs against Sam Houston in the 2023 Baton Rouge Regional opener. 18-2 Beavs. Oregon State last hit six home runs against Western Carolina in the Friday game last year. 23-5 Beavs. The last time that Oregon State hit more than six home runs was on May 13, 2015. Kyle Nobach homered, Jeff Hendrix homered twice, K.J. Harrison homered twice, Logan Ice homered, and Joe Gillette homered in a 20-0 win over Portland at Volcanoes Stadium. I like to think you have all of these facts committed to memory.

Top of the 7th:
Trosky comes on for Hainline. Strike out on five pitches. Base hit through the left side. Eight-pitch walk. Six-pitch strikeout. Flyout to right.
Bottom of the 7th:
Krieg pinch hits for Guerra. Krieg homers to right center. 15-1 Beavs. Macias pinch hits for McDowell. Macias singles up the middle. New Mexico pulls their pitcher. Reeder pinch hits for Kasper. Reeder hits a ball to short, erasing Macias. Reeder reaches on the fielder's choice. Trosky walks on six pitches. Turley grounds into a 6-4-3 double-play.
Top of the 8th:
Mejia relieves Lattery on the mound. Nine-pitch strikeout. Home run. 15-2 Beavs Hit by pitch. Single through the left side. Flyout to center. Lead runner to third. Caraway boots it. Runners on first and second. 15-3 Beavs. Four-pitch walk. Bases-clearing double. 15-6 Beavs. Ferguson relieves Mejia, who did not have his best stuff today (God willing). Walk. Flyout to center.
Bottom of the 8th:
Forrester hits for Peterson and fouls out to first. Smith strikes out on five pitches. Caraway singles to right. Santana hits for Bazzana and grounds out to first.
Top of the 9th:
Strikeout. The pinch hitter walks on four pitches. The pinch hitter hits a ball deep in the hole, and Santana cannot quite make the play. The pinch hitter flies out to left. Three-pitch Strikeout to a fourth consecutive pinch hitter.
15-6 Beavs win!

Thanks for the recap, I missed most of their scoring.
All in all, not a bad start. This team has a bunch of potential, hopefully the bullpen becomes a strength as the season goes on.

That ground ball to Caraway should have ended it. Instead, the inning continued. Mejia gave up that four-pitch walk and then could not get the second hitter, allowing a three-run double. Instead of 15-2, it was 15-6. Caraway has a big bat, but he needs to grow up fast at third. Hopefully, Guerra gets going. Cannot have him do absolutely nothing in the two-hole, and he needs to figure out first base, if he is really going to be there. I said before the game that I thought that Krieg should start. Krieg looked better than Guerra at first. Only two southpaws in the bullpen. We really need Keljo and Mejia to kill it this year, but the defense really needs to help out the lefties, when they are on the mound.

15-6 Oregon State win. It is the biggest win since the 18-2 win over Sam Houston in the Baton Rouge Regional opener last year. It is the biggest win West of Baton Rouge since the 23-5 win over Western Carolina last year. It is the biggest win in Arizona since the 13-2 win over Grand Canyon last year. It is the most runs scored in Arizona since the 2022 season opener against New Mexico in Surprise, a 21-1 win.

I'd agree Krieg could/maybe should start and then you could move Guerra to DH...but it's not like you can get Tyce Peterson out of the lineup after that performance.
Hopefully it all works out, but it's not like we can wait forever for Guerra to get things going.

There's a reason he's batting 2nd. Its always nice to get out big and clear the bench. Again, one game, but who knows, maybe Krieg will be needed in the pen.

Interesting with Lattery here...Monday very up in the air who starts It is interesting. Even though Lattery and Mejia weren’t sharp today, I think they both pitched in a blowout win to set them up for pitching in the first 2 games in Arlington.

Yeah, at least two games before we give up on him. Good thing none of us managed the 1951 New York Giants, when that Mays guy started out 0-for-24 or something. Whatever happened to him, anyways?
