It would be nice to find some words of encouragement and text the coach. He has to feel battered after the 27 point beatdown in Salt Lake followed by a 33 point blowout in Boulder today. No OSU coach should have to endure those kind of losses.

It is hard for me to understand why people continue to hold onto the elite 8 run as if it shows his coaching prowess. As great as those few weeks were it was strictly an aberration of his coaching ability.

It is hard for me to understand why people continue to hold onto the elite 8 run as if it shows his coaching prowess. As great as those few weeks were it was strictly an aberration of his coaching ability. The issue is and continues to be that the chances that it was an aberration is 1 out of 15,493. The first time in the Tournament that a team has been a six-point dog and won three consecutive games. In order for it to be an aberration, it would be like an aberration of an aberration. Additionally, things are going to change fundamentally next year, and, unless this team implodes in the offseason, I am very curious to see what happens in the WCC.

I followed the WT hire. He was the last man standing to take a job nobody else wanted. Current UW coach Mike Hopkins was a finalist. He's gonna get fired at UW, how would he have done at OSU? Eric Musselman was also a final candidate. Does anybody think he actually considered taking the job? Hell no. He was smart and waited. He loves Arkansas. I don't think a lot of people liked the WT hire from the onset. That displeasure slowly grew until it hit a flashpoint on Jan 14 2021 when the Beavers were routed by Arizona 98-64. This was the moment of validation, some said the Beavers wouldn't win another game the rest of the season, now is the time: Fire Him. Fair enough. WT got his chance. Time to move on. What happened next was the most improbable series of events that shook the CBB world: the Beaver team galvanized and shocked the conference by winning the Pac12 MBB tournament, thus getting an invite to March Madness. The WT doubters were stunned but not silenced. "Beavers got lucky by UCLA missing a free throw." That theme still lives. The thought process was: "The Beavers will get bounced outta the NCAA and we can still fire him." Cue up the magical Cinderella run that nobody could have predicted. It was devine. The march to the Elite 8 both silenced the doubters and proved them wrong. It embarrassed them, esp on social media and chat boards. That embarrassment was magnified because they were forced to endure the Pac12 championship and the NCAA run and couldn't root for the Beavers because it proved them wrong. That embarrassment lives today and it explains the angst. It is time to fire WT. Let's get on with it so all the naysayers can say: "I told you so". When he does get fired, I will look forward to hiring a new coach but I will also say thank you for the greatest season in modern day OSU MBB history. It's the best I've ever felt about Beaver basketball. Get on with it. When I read the headline, I believed it.
