Where did you come up with that? $2.7 million for this year is correct. His salary is paid from different sources. Yes, but he’s still owed that per year, which is a big hit considering our situation.

You never answered who the winning football coach that he hired. Was it Mike Riley as consultant? I love the fact that Smith will always have a less than .500 record, but to try to say that he wasn’t a successful hire is just silly. Beaverfuzz does silly, for sure. He wants to split hairs, that's fine, I'd expect nothing less. In his last three seasons Smith went 7-6, 10-4 and 8-4. That's a winning football coach.

So you're counting overall of course as it's not true in Pac12 play. Cuz Wayne hasn't had 3 winning records in conference, you know the wins that truly count. So JS was 50% in that regard. WT, projecting from what I'm seeing thus far, will be at 10%. Plus JS doesn't own multiple seasons ranked worst in program history. And, he has much better winning %. So ya, JS is much better when held to the same standards. But, those on either side of the WT fence don't have to be flipped.

How about "He hired a head coach who took our football program out of the s%#tter and turned it into a winning program that has 25 victories and three bowl appearances and numerous weeks in the Top 25 over the past three seasons?" But you want to fire the guy. Brilliant.

And yes Barnes should have been out the door years ago, he's ruined not one but two basketball programs in his tenure, but some how he walks on God in the old white guys message board.

I googled Oregon State University salaries. It's under unclassified employee list. It lists Rueck making a base of over $811,000. I think it is all base salaries for coaches We’re not talking about Rueck. And no, that is not the base salary for all coaches. You think our rowing coach makes $811K? WT is making $2.7 million this year. If WT is making 2.7 million, the rowing coach ought to be making at least 811k.

You guys are crazy comparing Smith and Tinkle. Every one of Smith’s losing seasons was a step forward. We all saw it; we all knew it. The culture of the team had changed. The players played until the final whistle and never gave up.
I can’t say the same about Tinkle’s teams. If they would consistently play their hearts out, I’d watch.

Seemed to be a bit of a digression over the past season for Smitty. And then, you know, the whole "Et tu, Brute?" stab to the groin finish to the whole thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I would rather watch nine more 2022-23-style basketball seasons than see anything like I saw from the pit viper that formerly ran the football team. Comparing Smitty to Tinkle irks me to no end. One guy was beloved here and then shot us all in the back. And the other is not from here and reviled by many but seems to be a great ambassador of Oregon State, a good guy, and a great developer of men. No comparison.

That's simply not true. I've never seen one post that mentioned WT as a bad person, or poor representative of the university. He's just not developed a good program. There are plenty of good people who are bad coaches. And, good coaches that are bad people. Just as all walks of life. WT has been the former at OSU. And, the extension wasn't his doing. What? He's going to turn it down? I'll go further. It wasn't even a bad hire unless you're a 20/20 hindsight type. Hiring isn't an exact science. But, 9+ seasons is enough to give a quality man an opportunity to build a consistent program.
