Games against OSU and WSU are not expected to count toward the league standings. The two Pac-12 members will not be eligible for the MWC championship and will compete as quasi-independents under the Pac-12 banner.
And what really stinks is no automatic playoff bid, reserved for official MWC members only. They would only be eligible for an at-large berth.
Sort of feels like MWC has us by the balls. I think a few here were thinking of a better scenario but it is what it is.

Many will disagree but I still think an all-sports merger of some kind with the MWC (reverse is my choice) is our best and most realistic and most logical path going forward. Regional competition against like-minded academic institutions.
Stanford and Cal aren't coming back. I highly, highly, highly doubt the Big 12 will reconsider. The MWC wants us and realizes our value to them.
Take the time to do it right, and then do it right.

Can't blame the MWC for being cautious.

Kind of disappointing in a way...MWC wants money and guarantees and penalties if we do anything different.
Unless the schedulers can come up with something different, this may be our only path forward. I do believe that if we can just get beyond Aug 1st of next year, that other options will open up and it will at least give us time to schedule a more demanding slate of teams to play. I guess we'll just go absent mostly a media deal for the next two years.
Maybe we need to allow direct PAC-2 network subscriptions to fans. A little extra money can't hurt.

To be fair to the MWC, they need to protect themselves. There is clear and obvious risk we just plunder their conference.

Yeah. Maybe check out what Angie Machado is saying about this. There's definitely some conflicting info.

The teams could get away with only eliminating 10 Mountain West games and replacing them with Oregon State and Wazzu this year. But if it is really going to be a two-year deal, that won't work, because Fresno State and San Diego State do not play each other in 2025.
If Oregon State and Wazzu add six Mountain West games on top of the four games that are already scheduled, you are only looking to fill two additional nonconference games. California and Oregon look like great games to fill into those spots. Utah should be the backup, if Oregon State cannot schedule California and Oregon.

Yeah. Maybe check out what Angie Machado is saying about this. There's definitely some conflicting info. So a real estate agent behind a paywall? This whole thing is just a mess.

Yeah. Maybe check out what Angie Machado is saying about this. There's definitely some conflicting info. So a real estate agent behind a paywall? She's been covering Oregon State for years. Ross Dellinger is not covering this from all angles. It's been obvious for a while now and he's still acting like the whole 6-6 to 5-7 is a done deal and has disregarded the fact that Shulz has a vote.

I have heard conflicting things about the 6-6 and 5-7 deal and about whether it can be changed before 2026-2027.

This guy broke several stories about SDSU and the MWC back when they wanted to go to the PAC 12. He obviousily has MWC connections.
