Well the beavers made a good run for themsekves into a position to be at the top and were only three points short from getting to the promised land. We are not perfect but we were getting close. But now who knows where any of this will go. The name OSU seems its destiny is mapped out. Johnathan Snith could be different with moving on to bigger named jobs. This might be unfortunate but this is not his fault. Nor was it probably in his dreams. Kinda sad!

If someone had told me before the game that we would hold Washington to 22 points, I would’ve said we’re probably gonna win.
If someone had told me before the game that we would only score 20 points, I would’ve said we’re probably going to lose.

Needed a coaches timeout at the end to reassess the situation. After the lost on first down, we have 3 plays to get 11 yards and keep the drive going. Did not need chunk plays, bad play calling. With the time left, 2 timeouts and distance needed to get into field goal range we were right on schedule. I saw us grinding down the field, getting in range(wind was at our back) kicking as the clock expired and not giving the huskies another shot. To me it seemed like the coaches didn’t recognize the moment and the immediate goal.

What I don't understand about the last drive was OS worked the clock. They were in no hurry. If you were in scoring position I can see it. They weren't though and I think it was a mistake to take your time while out of scoring position. Run the offense normally until in scoring position. Who knows what could have happened. Just an observation from my eyes. Yes the last four play calls were interesting.

I appreciate DJs effort and doing what he can to help the team but in all honesty if it comes down to retaining Chiles or DJ then DJ needs to find a new home. He can throw it a mile but he has no touch. Many times this season guys have been wide open but the ball is either thrown into the ground or three feet over the head of the receiver. Again thanks DJ.

Another thought that crossed my mind was the inability of OS to get good yardage around the ends. They kept trying and it never worked. washington was too quick for success on it. I also think they were trying too hard to stretch the field instead of taking what washington would give you. OS definitely had their chances and didn't capitalize on them.

Two of Penix's passes make me gag. The one where we almost got to him and he threw one up for grabs between two defenders for a completion. I call that pure luck. The last and key FD pass was all but announced. Penix loaded the right side and isolated Odunze one on one. Game!

Besides isolating the receiver on 3rd down Penix threw the ball behind the receiver which makes it impossible to defend.

When your QB sits in a clean pocket for 8 seconds and throws the ball 3 yards over the head of wide open recievers, you don't need taller receivers. You need an actual football player and not just a first off the bus caricature of one. I thought you were normally a no BS kind of guy. Like even when Beaver fans show normal fan bias, you call them on it. Isn't it normally, "just the facts, ma'am"? But "8 seconds" and "3 yards over the head"? I was at the game so didn't have the best view of everything. But I just watched the DVR recording. In the first half, I saw both DJ and Penix with a couple of misses. DJ missed Velling a bit to the left over the middle and threw one ball about 1 foot over the raised hand of Irish. I saw receivers on both sides drop good passes. I saw Penix throw a ball directly to an OSU defensive back (who also had trouble catching). I saw Penix throw 9 straight incompletions. I saw DJ get a pass tipped for an INT on 4th and 10, which was his first INT in 5 games. In the second half, I saw DJ get hit as he threw, and UW get the INT. On a huge, 16-play, time-consuming, TD drive in the 3rd quarter, I saw DJ get 4 seconds in the pocket because of a great fake reverse and then try to hit Irish who was going across the middle downfield...except that Irish stopped going across the middle just before DJ threw the ball. It was the only incomplete pass on the drive. On OSU's final drive, I saw DJ complete 4 passes, have two long passes defended (one on a free play), and then, on 4th down, I saw DJ try to buy time and then throw the ball deep over the middle for Velling, who had stopped the route. And I saw Heisman Penix and the UW offense score 0 points. So, what did I miss? Where was the 8 seconds in the pocket? Where was the ball 9 feet over the head of a wide open receiver?

I believe DJU got a first down on all six of his rushes. Sounds like a football player to me.

Here's the tale of the tape. In one corner we have the front running Heisman candidate. In the other we have a cast-off who, in the eyes of many OSU fans is a disappointment. Heisman candidate was 13 for 28 (46.4 completion percentage), 162 yds 2 TDs no picks. Cast off was 15 for 31 (48.4 completion percentage), 164 yds 0 TDs and 2 picks (one pick was tipped). And guess which one had the advanage in guys to throw to?

Well, after a day and a half to get over the disappointment, I'll offer this. The special teams were not very special. The high snap was obvious but fielding the final punt on the 5 freaking yard line........WTF? Also, DJ seemed to revert back to early season form in looking for home run balls down the sideline to receivers covered like a red rash instead of taking the underneath routes the defense was giving. Beaver Nation showed up and gave the mutts all they could handle. Electric atmosphere!! Go Beavs!!

Two Huskies were right there and could have previously potentially downed it at the 1. It didn't hurt us to start at the 5 anyway.
