If they join the ACC, Stanford and Cal will send their athletes to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Central New York, Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Indiana every other weekend. But they'll say it's the best thing for the future of their athletic programs, and for their student athletes.
Meanwhile, those other schools will send their athletes clear across country to play games 2 or 3 time zones away that won't start until 10 p.m. ET, to have flights home in which they won't arrive until 5 or 6 in the morning, and then tell their boosters and athletes it's great for their schools.
What an absolute load of BS.
The athletes don't deserve that.

Whatever it is, it hasn’t seemed to affect recruiting. Maybe kids are more patient than old fans. Our program is as healthy as it's been since 9er was suiting up.....coincidence? So I think it's biz as usual for recruits.......until the rest of the chips fall. If we merge with the MW, recruiting will become more challenging, no doubt. If we somehow get into the Big 12 I think it could actually keep trending up......the wildcard here though is the expanded playoff. If we are positioned with our staff/program intact in a newly formed Pac/MW, we definitely have a great path to much success and maybe the playoff.....that could be a nice recruiting pitch.

No way to Stanford and Cal join us and Wazzu in associating with the MWC. So that leaves two options. 1. We get 6-8 teams to leave the MWC and join us in a reconstituted Pac. We break up another conference, just as was done to us. 2. We do a full merge with the MWC, 13 teams, all in, fight against the man. I like # 2. I have no issue with either option as long as we can keep our program together.......that will mean some tough decisions made by the AD, including some sports probly going away, and/or getting much less money. If we are going to carry the momentum in football, the resources need to be there.

So I guess Barnes should have put out a statement that the disintegration of the conference sucks and we are all doomed. He already said something about being upset over the other schools leaving at the last minute. OSU's president put out a statement that OSU is exploring all options right now and that is about all that she could say. What more do people want? Immediate declaration of war on Eugene seems popular for reasons. I am completely good with declaring war on uo/spewgene?

So, if for some reason the Bay area schools head east, goes that leave OSU and WSU with 400+million to split in future bowl/tournament royalties as sole remaining members of the Pac?

I like it, too, but I want to name it the Pac something or other so WSU and OSU can get a larger share of the proceeds of the post-season monies that are owed to the Pac 12.

Personally, I would have a hard time getting excited to see Wyoming, San Jose State, Air Force and maybe Utah State (even though they kicked our ass in that recent bowl game). Somewhat the same thought on New Mexico but I keep thinking they should be better.

What an absolute load of BS. The athletes don't deserve that. Those preppy bastards deserve every bit of that. California and Stanford athletes, you are the freaks at the circus. You dance for nickels, while people watch. Don't like it? Play somewhere that respects student athletes!

It seems like you might have the experience. The sad part is that the University and Eugene did little of this. It's like 99% Phil Knight.

I guess they don't care about the environment anymore. Gonna be burning a lot of jet fuel.

Go with #2, but the Mountain West gets renamed the Pac-13.

IF it were to remain a power 5 conference, with a decent media payout, I’d expect over the course of time most of the MWC schools would see improved football programs due to money and improved recruiting status. Air Force might be kinda locked in to what it currently is to some extent, I think they’re required to go to active duty afterwards.
