Simoleon. Supposedly it's a portmanteau of a Simon (another name for a sixpence) and a Napoleon (worth 20 Francs). That may help with spelling.
A Simon would be worth about three cents today and a Napoleon would be worth about four. Both would still be worth at least four times more than a yen.

Interesting (to me) that it’s even a real word, I was just channeling Bugs easy shot. In the future, I’ll try to refer to your enlightened lesson and use correct spelling. Southern slang 100+ years ago = real word today....................apparently. The Sims made "simoleon" famous again in the early 2000s, because they used it as their unit of currency. And I probably know the simoleon so well, because of The Sims.

D-1 BB just came out with an updated top 150 DRAFT college players. Garrett is not on the list. My assumptions / calculations here are subject to correction by those in the know: But, if you assume 2/3 College / 1/3 High School, that would translate to about 225 picks, or about the end of the 7th round.
Slot Value at that point is about $220K. Midway through the 7th, slot dips below $200K.

It is usually more like 5/6 College / 1/6 High School. Last year, the 150th college player was Tyler Stewart, who was selected with pick 179 in the Sixth Round. His pick value was $288,900, and he signed for $220K. And I think that you are using an old slot value. Last year, slot value did not slide below $200K until pick 225, the second-to-last pick of the 7th Round. Slot value this year are higher. Pick 179's slot value is $317,400 this year, which is an extra 10.21% increase year over. Pick 225 is the beginning of the Eighth Round this year, and it is $219,700, an 11.24% increase year over. It does not slide below $200K until pick 239, which is almost exactly midway through the Eighth Round. That also presupposes that D1 BB knows better than MLB scouts and the heavy analytics guys. The rankings tend to be pretty good for the first three rounds or so. After that, it is going to come down to the video shows and what each team's scouts and the heavy analytics guys have to say. We'll see.

Intuitively 7th round could be the sign vs stay round. Having him come back for his senior year and develop as a catcher for a full season could move him up. The value of staying another year in Corvallis is probably as good or better than 8th round money.

Last year's 116th-rated player was Nate Savino, who was selected with the second pick in the Third Round. I am curious what the whole catcher angle is. Did a team ask him to try it out to see, if they wanted to take a Fourth Round flier on Forrester? We should know more in a couple of days, but it is all very interesting.

He said multiple teams tried to lure him to minicamps last month to catch bullpens. The interest was so high, he couldn’t visit them all, so he invited scouts to Corvallis to watch him go through a solo workout instead. Seven days after the season ended, he caught a 20-pitch bullpen from Ferrer in front of roughly 15 scouts, mixing in 10 throws to Jabin Trosky at second base. “I think I surprised them with my ability to catch,” Forrester said. “I knew I could do it. I’ve always been a pretty good catcher, I just never got the opportunity to do it at Oregon State.” www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2023/07/garret-forrester-leads-oregon-state-hopefuls-in-2023-mlb-draft.html

It's damn nice to see Jabin Trosky's name pop up in the O-article.
Good to know that he's healthy and will (I assume) be part of the middle infield mix for 2024.
If Garrett is indeed "gone", here's hoping he gets picked no later than the 5th round, and signs for a nice bonus. He's been a great Beav in a long line of Sacramento area players.

It is great that Forrester got to do that and that Ferrer also got to throw in front of 15 scouts. It is great that Jabin Trosky's healthy again and also got to participate in front of scouts. Hopefully, it was a hell of a show for all involved.
