10 am game time is an advantage - I would guess with the heat. Wind forecasted to blow out to left / center left field, steady at 10mph by game time with some higher gusts. 10 mph doesn't seem like much, but add some hot, dry air and it could be a recipe for some international flights. Arizona starting May, Sunday starter (at least against OSU, he started on Sunday) against ASU. Sun Devils counter with Hansell, bullpen guy who has started a few midweek games.

I think ASU might be regretting that decision. UA up 5-0 That likely means Cam Walty (RHP, Jr.) for tomorrow v. Beavs. He had an excellent outing in Goss on Friday 4/28 - 7 IP, 5H, 0 Runs. Beavs won 2-1 with 2 runs in B9 (Peterson walk-off single). |

Good to see ASU burning through pitchers, but it would be nice to see the Wildcats have to use bullpen. That last part may well not happen with the gigantic ASU hitting slump over several weeks.

with one big advantage: The three pool winners will advance to the Friday single-elimination semifinals along with one Wild Card team. The Wild Card will be determined by the best record of the non-advancing teams. Any tiebreaker will be awarded to the highest seeded team. Also, if al teams go 1-1, then highest seed moves on...so Beavs really just need to win 1 game...need to beat whoever wins Tuesday game to move on....but probably need 2 wins on Weds/Thurs or win Pac-12 tourney to Host... I may be befuddled, but I think there is at least 1 scenario in which a single Beaver win would not allow them to advance to semi-finals: Beaver's Pool ends: ASU 0-2; OSU 1-1 and UA 2-0 Stanford's pool ends with either Cal or Ducks at 2-0, and Stanford finishing 1-1 UW's pool ending with ANY team finishing 2-0. In that case, Stanford, being the higher seed at 1-1 would be the Wild Card and advance to the semi-finals, and Beavs are done. |
