The pitching depth that just gave up 33 runs in 3 games. Not so sure about that. I watched the series.....and even with the horrible camera work, I could see that our pitching got smoked.....but, it's one series. We go into a regional hot, we have the dude to make noise. Who’s that Dude?

despite losing series vs scum devils we are up to 36 (+4) from last week 35 now. The teams right behind Oregon State are much more tightly packed than the teams ahead of Oregon State. The result is that the Beavers probably move up about two spots with a win against Grand Canyon but could fall about seven spots with a loss.

1/2 game out of tie for third. 2 1/2 games behind Stanford. Arizona State sits on top three games up on Oregon State with a three-game series against Oregon State coming up. If Oregon State sweeps Arizona State, the two are effectively tied. The other big series at the top of the conference is UCLA @ USC. The Beavs pass the Bruins or Trojans with a series win in Phoenix and could pass both with a series sweep (assuming that the Bruins or Trojans do not sweep the other). Stanford plays Washington at Sunken Diamond. Oregon heads down to Berkeley. Utah heads down to Tucson in the Pac-12 Pillow Fight of the Eid al-Fitr Weekend. Wazzu plays Santa Clara on the Palouse. Oregon State lost ground to Arizona State, Oregon, Stanford, and USC. Oregon State stayed up with UCLA and stayed ahead of Washington. Arizona State has played an interesting schedule, generally playing progressively better teams. The Devils now play @ Oregon, Stanford, @ USC, and UCLA to finish the season. There is a huge opportunity to put together a monster season and an equally huge opportunity to crash and burn. Oregon and Stanford each play a difficult two weekend slate before playing less challenging teams to finish. Oregon plays Arizona State and @ USC, and Stanford plays UCLA and @ Arizona State. USC plays @ Washington before playing Oregon, Arizona State, and @ Arizona to finish. UCLA plays @ Stanford, California, Oregon State, and @ Arizona State. Washington plays USC, @ Wazzu, @ Oregon, and California. Arizona has played three of the worst four teams in the conference over the past three weekends and now finishes with a tough final four weekends with @ Oregon State, Air Force, @ Stanford, and USC. Arizona (like Arizona State, UCLA, and USC) has a huge opportunity to really make huge strides in RPI and an equal opportunity to crash and burn. Wazzu plays a pillowy soft schedule over the next three weekends with @ Utah, Washington, and @ Cal before finishing up against Stanford. California plays @ Pittsburgh in a huge series for Pac-12 RPI. California plays the next eight away from Berkeley. After the trip to Pittsburgh, California plays @ UCLA before finishing up with a home-and-home with the Washington schools. Utah hosts Wazzu in the Pillow Fight of the Weekend. The Utes will then play @ Oregon State before finishing with six straight against Cal Poly (That, of course, will work to tie Oregon State's RPI closer to both Cal Poly and Utah's RPI. Yay!) and Oregon.

All feels bad after a series like that but there are some upsides.
1) Bats woke up. 2) We can get to 17 conference wins by winning the series vs Zona, Utah and UCLA. 3) If we clear the rest of the non-con we get 7 more wins which would put us at 22-3 OoC. 4) Both those things happen we are 39-16 and 17-14 in conference.

Given the nonconference schedule, Oregon State really needs to win seven of nine against Zona, Utah, and UCLA. The Beavs could finish 18-12 and 40-15 overall. That would probably give Oregon State a Corvallis Regional RPI. Given the games over the next two weekends, the conference's RPI could really explode here. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Important that we beat them on Tuesday! In general, YES, HELL YES. RPI yes, Conference no...as it's a non-conf game...UCLA series could be HUGE! Don't look past the Utes... yup, Utes just swept Wazzu. I wish we could replay those first 2 series

If it comes down to us vs them for a regional wouldn't you much prefer us having beaten them 3-1 vs 2-2 with an *that we won the league series?

Not sure if it means anything but we have the highest ELO ranking in the conference. Just ahead of Oregon and Stanford.

Not sure if it means anything but we have the highest ELO ranking in the conference. Just ahead of Oregon and Stanford. Thank you Mr. Blue Sky. But what the f%#* does ELO have to do with anything. Don’t bring me down, you evil woman. I got this strange magic that I can’t get out of my head. I think I’m going to get to on my telephone line, call over the world and shine a little love.
