With the portal already starting to hum, I thought a catch all thread for potential transfers in made sense.
6-8, 220 pound forward. Averaged 5.9 ppg and 1.9 rpg his freshman year. Played in 32 games and started 6, while averaging about 20 mpg. Scored 15 points 3 times — versus WKU, Ga Tech and FSU.

I like to see that OSU is reaching out to guards in the portal. We need 'em.

6-2 PG averaged 13.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 3,6 apg. The frosh had 25 pts and 5 assists on the road against Miami (Fla). Beavs definitely looking for PG.

Another guard — this one of the 6-5 variety. Had season highs of 27 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Shot 42.5% from 3 this past season. Had some seemingly decent games against good competition. Went 13-5-1 against Washington, 8-3-3 against Arizona and 10-4-1 against Nevada.

And, you guessed it, another guard. Wouldn’t hold my breath on this one. Three years of eligibility, solid games against P6 and/or tourney teams and solid shooter will make this guy a hot commodity — as the list of schools reaching out already shows.

Looks like we are competing with the best to get this guy. Yeah, not exactly a murderer’s row of teams listed there, but then again based on last two seasons Beavers being added didn’t elevate the list much. At this point if he’s a good teammate and can play, sign him up — though hopefully Beavs can be more selective than that. Kid did average just a shade under 20 ppg over his last 19 games. Watched some highlight video on him, and he certainly can shoot with range. Shows somewhat of an intermediate game, though have to wonder if effectiveness there would decrease against P6 competition. Also needs to tighten up his handles. Honestly his game reminds me of Lucas’s some — strong outside shot and ability to get it off being not the biggest kid out there. Also hits his FTs. Hopefully we can pull in guys more talented, but as a fall back guy it would seem he would fill a need of outside shooting.

What is a point guard in today's game? Now,everyone has to be able to start the offense and be a legit scorer too. The days of the traditional pass first point guard doesn't exist anymore. I want two combo guards who can shoot the three starting.

I want two combo guards who can shoot the three starting. I get what you’re saying. And PGs do have to be able to score now too, but I think there is great value in having a PG who can distribute, break down the D and settle things down. I think the reason that Illinois has been so inconsistent this year is because they don’t have a PG. At different times in the game they will have basically 4 different guys initiate the offense during a game. Yeah the versatility is great when they’re hitting on all cylinders, but too often the offense gets bogged down and they take bad 3s. If they had a real PG, I think the scoring droughts would be shallower and overall they’d be more consistent. But I agree that you need at least a couple of guys on the floor who can initiate the offense

I'm not against getting another true point guard. I'm pretty sure Pope was playing the 2 spot until his senior year. There was an article way back talking about the transition to point and how he was becoming recognized as a point guard.
The one thing I'd like to see is 1 kid who is nails breaking the press. Pope is doing fine, but the last kid we had that I felt comfortable that he could break a press on his own was Bruce, and that's like 8 years ago.
