We need another solid post and a PG from the portal. If you really want the current group to stay, then form an NIL group. Make the Benny's House NIL and the women would be paid to promote the NIL group (to get even more people on-board). 93beav
Brilliant idea !
Put me down as someone who would be glad to contribute on a monthly basis to such a group if it is properly set up and rewards all players on the team equally.

So in the ASU game thread I posted that I thought the loss could be a tipping point for some of the players. I hope not. But I have become very concerned about Rueck's ability to hang on to some very important pieces of the roster. For me, it comes down to this. I really liked watching Beers and Gardiner this season and I am convinced that Blacklock can be an impact player as well and that Hansford can be a major 3-point threat. If some or most of these players leave (in addition to some or most of the others), then Rueck will be rebuilding the team. Again. But don't expect another No. 3 recruiting class to rescue him. No, it will be a patchwork squad made up of some holdovers and transfers that most likely were unable to pique the interest of strong programs. Good luck getting out of the bottom half of the Pac-12. I said it would take a complete meltdown to get to that point. I'm not sure it's a complete meltdown. The players are still out there competing. They obviously haven't given up. But do they still have faith in Rueck? Thanks for imagining the worst case scenario and sharing your “concerns”. Much appreciated.

Because they didn't go on a nine-game losing streak and had just lost to previously winless in conference Arizona State. Yeah, that never happened did it? Brilliant.

I thought I remember that a couple of people on this board are/were hot shot lawyers, famous throughout the state?

The portal is impossible to predict, but I am encouraged by this totally subjective impression. Beers, Gardiner, and Blacklock are all smilers, especially Beers and Gardiner. They look like they love the game and are having a great time. Did anyone see Beers hugging Mannen from behind while Bendu was shooting free throws at the end of the Arizona game? She knew the Beavs were putting the game away. I have loved it that Gardiner leads the team in the introductions with that little dance they do when the starters are announced. I always worried a little about Taylor Jones and Brown because they rarely smiled. They looked like they were going to work rather showing the joy of playing a game they loved. At that time, little did I think they would leave. But can anyone imagine them leading the team introductions in the way that Gardiner does? It doesn't mean we're clear of the portal, but I'm a lot more hopeful when I see the joy Gardiner brings to the court. I was watching her after the game today when she only played 7 minutes. The smile was still there. markwbeav, these are very good observations. There are some former players that go on my all time favorites list. Players that I thought may never be surpassed in terms of representing Oregon State. From what we've seen in the few short months these freshmen have been here, I think there may be one or two from this class that go on to be among the best OSU representatives we've ever had. All indications are that these are great people as much as they are great players. I love the cheerleading we get from each of them.

markwbeaver, great observation that our freshmen have a love for the game and it shows in their joy. Right after the game as the girls huddled, our freshmen were jumping for joy (literally). It was so wonderful to see their huge smiles. Was such a relief for hardened OSU WBB Fans.
