If Martha is not injured, then I believe SR is making it crystal clear that he does not value her contributions and/or potential very much by not playing her.
If so, that approach would fall right in line with his inability or inclination to have a true point guard on the team.
Most, if not all, of our current players have no doubt somewhere along the line played with a good or excellent point guard.
Not having one on the team, very possibly could be a significant factor in whether players transfer portal or stay.
How depressed are you going to be if all the freshmen stay and vastly improve next year? Gonna be a biatch huh? Seems virtually all the announcers that I've seen have nothing but praise for these kids and their talent, I'm doubting that they want to all head out to other pastures. I'd rather think they will actually WANT to stay together and grow. But, you probably think that would be foolish, obviously you would not wait to bail on your teammates. I'd like to think they support the team instead of the headlines of transferring out with expectations of glory on the other end. But that's just me... rafer,
Thanks for your comments. I would be overjoyed if they all stay. As you say, I too would rather think they will want to stay and grow.
My concern, as I have stated, is that the recent years of increasing number of losses each year may result instead in more transfers out.
Hopefully, last year was an exception rather than the norm.

Everybody sagged of her and yet she manages to get 13 assists to go with the 12 points. 3 steals, 3 blocks with only 3 turnovers. No one else on the roster was involved in at least 38 points. Don't let the facts get in your way. Fact is she kills any offense we might be able to generate with our bigs because of her lack of outside shot. She also gave up 27 points because she played too much and got too tired. Those are the facts. She wasn't always man to man on their point so she didn't give up all those points. Raegan had 14, Jelena had 11, and Timea was good for 13. Yeah our bigs weren't able to generate any offense.

Factual and very well stated. To me the "problem" has absolutely nothing to do with Bendu.
She is a terrific athlete and probably will be able to make a good living playing professional basketball overseas. Excellent defender, good quickness, endurance, work ethic, good size for a guard, etc., etc.
She was placed in the same position that seems to keep happening with SR teams. Having to play point guard when her natural position is not point guard,
Same thing happened to Pivec one year. She did a really good job at it, but I believe the team would have been significantly better if she had been able to play her natural position.
SR has also been able to get by some years without recruiting and/or developing true point guards because Syd and Aleah both worked very very hard at developing skills.
SR seems to be able to come up with an infinite number of excuses and rationalizations, and still avoid the reality which is he can not (or will not) acknowledge the huge effect this is having on the current lack of success the team has experienced over the last few years
Go Beavs!.

Remember Alyssa Martin filling the PG? Katie did it as well, but I think that was after Syd broke her hand against Tennessee.

What emerges out of this conversation for me is that as a team this season was less than stellar; however, individual players were able to put together some very good games and good effort. I have enjoyed watching those individual accomplishments this season, team effort not so much. Into the future, with all that skill and talent, I look forward to the building of the TEAM for the 2023-2024 season.

Excellent point about the individual efforts vs team results.
However, I will not be as optimistic as you are until (a) I see the results of the transfer portal (in and out) and (b) the addition of quality point guard(s) with at least two years of eligibility remaining.

GA is at Weber State as volunteer with retirement income. 4 players bolted on SR last year so there is something wrong with his program. You may not like what we are saying, we are frustrating with many losses. GA was going to be fired for cause....so they gave him the option to leave, which he did. He did not leave money on the table for nothing. And, he did not "retire". He went to Utah and then took the Head Coaching job at Utah St. and flamed out again, leaving a dumpster fire in his wake. I've made comments in the past that I'm not a huge fan of SR off the court, but he is good coach. Comparing him to one of the worst humans on the planet is next level. You might as well say he's Lavonda Wagner while you’re at it. I’m starting to wonder if a better comparison is Dan Hawkins.

Seems to me you are incredibly negative, a fountain of pessimism and doom in the main sports. But when it comes to Women’s Hoops you turn the tables 180*! It’s funny (to me). I’ve always thought though, and posted too, that the passionate wbb fans here are incredibly thin skinned and overly defensive, so I guess it kind of fits my narrative in a way. Keep on Keepin On!

It is astounding that in the course of just a few years OSU has gone from being one of the elite programs in the country to being a conference bottom feeder. No one saw it coming.

A guess: Martha is not playing because she told Scott she's leaving?
Addendum: Adlee is leading the conference is 3pt%age.
You know that actually could be the reason Martha is not playing....she doesn't appear injured and I along with many others on here think she is the best and the only true PG on the roster and yet despite losing 9 games in a row the coach still refuses to play her much if at all! I don't blame her a bit if she is leaving to go somewhere else where her talents will be recognized by a head coach!

Anyone thinking that she is the missing piece doesn’t know basketball.

I'm not seeing anyone complaining about the young one's play last night or even before this game. The freshmen/sophomore classes are exciting and so much to look forward to with this group. I don't think a good game is one with as many "unforced" turnovers as the Beavs displayed last night. As much as I want to be excited for Bendu nearly getting a triple double, I was not excited that we had Mannen and Bendu in the game at the same time for many minutes. ASU effectively only had to cover one guard on the perimeter, which permitted ASU to sag off and double our BIGs in the middle. I am not promoting benching Bendu, but I am promoting having more shooters on the perimeter so we can get the ball inside to our BIGs w/o double teams. Why not bring in Martha for a spell and let her run the point with outside shooters (it has worked before). I think Martha is pretty good, so I am curious about coaches decisions in that regard. I would have liked to see her have a lot more minutes earlier in the season. He benched Kennedy B. late last season. She announced her transfer shortly after the season. Martha may have informed her of her intention to transfer. Why play someone who's leaving? Give the minutes to a plyer who's staying.
