Yea a lot of work to do for SR to keep younger players from bolting to a winning program. If he is not able do that then need to walk away like Gary Andersen and retired. That might be the most insulting thing you could post about SR. GA did not "retire". And, SR has not done anything close to what GA did. Did he mean Jimmy Anderson? (His was definitely more of a walk away/retire situation than whatever mayhem Gary was doing)

Just watched the presser. Rueck looks flummoxed in trying to explain what happened last night, and in other games at Gill where teams come in and have their best performances of the year. Not once does Rueck express or question the OSU coaches. Until the coaching staff question themselves, I don't see any different results in the next 2 games. Rueck needs to think about how to keep the freshmen and sophomores from bolting. That should be his primary concern now. Imo one attribute of leadership, at least in sports is, when you win you deflect praise to others on the team, when you lose you take responsibility for it, whether you deserve it or not. He should be telling his team that this season is largely on him and that he needs to do better by his players. That will engender loyalty and goodwill from his team. Maybe he has done this in private.

GA is at Weber State as volunteer with retirement income. 4 players bolted on SR last year so there is something wrong with his program. You may not like what we are saying, we are frustrating with many losses. GA was going to be fired for cause....so they gave him the option to leave, which he did. He did not leave money on the table for nothing. And, he did not "retire". He went to Utah and then took the Head Coaching job at Utah St. and flamed out again, leaving a dumpster fire in his wake. I've made comments in the past that I'm not a huge fan of SR off the court, but he is good coach. Comparing him to one of the worst humans on the planet is next level. You might as well say he's Lavonda Wagner while your at it. In all seriousness I am curious what you don't like about SR off the court? I have missed these comments in the past. Thanks

Loss completely on coaching. Too many non-shooters on the floor at the same time. Can not wait for our PG to graduate.

Thanks I've known him since college. A little too big of an ego (Napolean Complex) for me. But again, you probably need some of that to be a good coach, which I think he is. He does, however, need to perhaps reevaluate and update his approach. It's a lot less effective than it used to be.

Agree....I know SR admires defense...and he should. But not having Adlee in there when you needed a 3 is beyond me. If it's because she can't play defense.....well we had already given up 40+ points in the half and she's not in there because she can't play defense?

I don't want this thread to devolve into a discussion of Gary Andersen, but this seems a bit extreme unless you have some information that very few people are privy to. I mean, I've heard things through the grapevine about GA but nothing that would lead me to think he's one of the worst humans on the planet. One of the worst football coaches ever, sure. Unless you're just using hyperbole.

When you watch the game you see the entire defense sag off of her and pack the lane because no one respects her shooting.

Completely agree that Bendu had a great game and it would have been nice to see her achieve that triple double. But, in the end this is a team sport where great individual efforts don't always end in victory for the team. Other factors beyond Bendu's control contributed to the loss. Time will tell how all of this is going to shake out. I'm going to shake my disappointment and move on to the next round. Go Beavs!

A guess: Martha is not playing because she told Scott she's leaving?
Addendum: Adlee is leading the conference is 3pt%age.

Everybody sagged of her and yet she manages to get 13 assists to go with the 12 points. 3 steals, 3 blocks with only 3 turnovers. No one else on the roster was involved in at least 38 points. Don't let the facts get in your way.

Don't let the facts get in your way. Fact is she kills any offense we might be able to generate with our bigs because of her lack of outside shot. She also gave up 27 points because she played too much and got too tired. Those are the facts.

I think Martha is pretty good, so I am curious about coaches decisions in that regard. I would have liked to see her have a lot more minutes earlier in the season. If Martha is not injured, then I believe SR is making it crystal clear that he does not value her contributions and/or potential very much by not playing her.
If so, that approach would fall right in line with his inability or inclination to have a true point guard on the team.
Most, if not all, of our current players have no doubt somewhere along the line played with a good or excellent point guard.
Not having one on the team, very possibly could be a significant factor in whether players transfer portal or stay.
How depressed are you going to be if all the freshmen stay and vastly improve next year? Gonna be a biatch huh? Seems virtually all the announcers that I've seen have nothing but praise for these kids and their talent, I'm doubting that they want to all head out to other pastures. I'd rather think they will actually WANT to stay together and grow. But, you probably think that would be foolish, obviously you would not wait to bail on your teammates. I'd like to think they support the team instead of the headlines of transferring out with expectations of glory on the other end. But that's just me...
