The world needs ditch diggers, too. I can't help the fact that I've got an event going on at the yacht club that day. Is Lacey going to be joining you at the club?

Too many privileged baseball season ticket holders... Some people have to work for a living. Which is what I meant. A 3:00 start is rough for most people.

Limits your out of town beavs too. I'm not driving over the mountains in the dumbest month of the year to watch 1 inning before my kid calls it quits. I think we should consider trying to schedule with some mid tier/high tier teams like Fresno, baggers, GCU, SBSU, SJSU. One easy D2 series like cal poly then another series against a warm decent team. That gets us 3 weeks deep and we have developmental games and some resume builders. Cal Poly is not a D2 team. They have had some very good players including a 1st round draft pick last year (the Coaches' son) Brooks Lee. They beat Cal and UW last year. It will not be "easy" Western Oregon is D2, if you want to go there. Cal Poly took two out of three from us in 2015 at Goss. They beat Andrew Moore & Drew Rasmussen in games 1 & 2, Travis Eckert prevented a sweep with a victory in game 3. I wasn't happy but we had a fairly young squad.

They beat Andrew Moore & Drew Rasmussen in games 1 & 2, Travis Eckert prevented a sweep with a victory in game 3. I wasn't happy but we had a fairly young squad. In 2013 and 2014, Cal Poly fielded their two best teams in program history, going 87-31 over those two years. In 2014, Cal Poly even hosted the San Luis Obispo Regional. Cal Poly's ace, Casey Bloomquist, was a preseason All-American and pitched like one throughout the year, but he got almost no run support. Bloomquist threw a compete game four hitter in game one. 2-1 into the seventh before Zach Reser gave up consecutive hits, and Caleb Hamilton committed an error. Two hitters later, Clay Bauer gave up a grand slam to John Schuknecht to make it 8-1 the final, five unearned runs. Cal Poly's leadoff hitter, Mark Macias plays for the Rangers now. He led off the game with a base hit. A second base hit put him on third, and he was driven home on a sac fly. After a base hit and error put the ninth hitter on second, Macias got the runner over to third with one out. In a dubious decision, Casey intentionally walked the lefty who hit second to set up a righty-righty matchup, but Raz kept throwing balls, walking the next two hitters to put Cal Poly up 2-0. Schuknecht then hit a sac fly to put Cal Poly up 3-0. KJ Harrison scored a run to pull within 3-1 and then drove in Christian Donahue to pull within one. In the eighth, Raz gave way to Luke Heimlich after a double. Heimlich threw a wild pitch and then gave up a two-run shot to put Cal Poly up 5-2. Tweedt gave up BB, 1B, BB, and 1B to start the ninth to make it 7-2 the final.

I’ll bet there’s more fans there than you think. I hope so. I’m trying to figure out a way to get there myself.

When's the last time we've had to sweep/plow snow off the field at Goss to play ball?

View AttachmentWhen's the last time we've had to sweep/plow snow off the field at Goss to play ball? It snowed last year on April 13th. Oregon State played Long Beach State in a three-game set starting the next day. It was 24 degrees on March 11th of last year. Oregon State played Oregon in a three-game set starting the next day. La Niña in 2022. The lows on Saturday and Sunday, during the 2019 West Virginia series were 28, but the games both games played with temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. It got colder after that, but the next weekend were the three games at T-Mobile Park. Spring Break 2012 started like this: It snowed 5.3 inches from March 21-22, 2012, and Oregon State played a three-game set with Arizona starting the next day. March 2012 was the wettest March ever in Western Oregon and the month also exhibited below-average temperatures (3.5 degrees below normal in Corvallis). 2012 was also a La Niña year. It snowed on March 17, 2002. Oregon State and Washington State played at Goss without incident. I believe that the answer is 1994. The season opener was in Corvallis on February 22nd. 15 inches of snow fell in the 96 hours before the game, and it was snowed out.

I talked to a wildlife biologist from eastern OR within the last couple years, and he said some of the mule deer herds over there still haven't recovered from the 93-94 winter.
