Seriously...for a team that has seven new players! Five freshman and two transfers. Our most experienced player in the system is a sophomore! What were the expectations this year? Second place in the Pac-12 and a number 2 seed in the Tournament??

Yes it will be interesting to see what happens after the season is over. I will not be surprised if Hansford goes back to Wisc. Rueck should have gave her more of Mannen's minutes earlier in the season. Gardiner, Beers,TVO could transfer to Utah,Colorado, or Wash.St.. Blacklock could go back to the Big-12. Who knows. It's a different game now with the portal. Player gets frustrated or unhappy and boom off she goes. Well put!

Yes you are 100% correct the team does indeed have seven new players.
As I said in a previous post, I will be glad to reserve judgement until the transfer portal results are in. However, I believe if I were the AD the time to obtain a quality new coach would be prior to having another brutal loss year in the transfer portal. Already I am sure recruits are being told "Do you really want to go to OSU? Terrible win/loss record recently, multiple top players leaving the program via the transfer portal, etc.,etc.
"What were the expectations"? How about a Coach with years of experience showing (a) he can do more than rotate the players at random during a game and (b) Make some pro-active decisions (assistant coaching changes, etc) that indicate he is aware of the severity of the problem.

The Pac12 media picked the Beavs middle of the conference in their preseason poll which was similar to where other preseason previews had them. No one picked them second, but no one picked them 11th either.

Assistant coaching changes....yea, the assistant coaching changes in the men's program sure turned that program around!

Watch the transfer portal after this season, it is my belief that if this team loses personnel to the portal , there will not be a winning record again with OSU WBB until SR is no longer coaching the team. The definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results". The one constant "thing" over the past few years during the rapid descent to the PAC 12 basement has been Coach SR. His "broken record" about "almost winning" is wearing very thin! There were very few programs that did not have at least one transfer after last season. In fact, I believe the average number of transfers per team last season was over 3. Arizona who is currently ranked 18th in the country had 8 players transfer out after last season, so you can win even if you have players transfer out, it depends on who is transferring and the quality of incoming transfers or recruits. OSU was a net loser in the portal last year, that needs to change. Imo for better or worse SR has earned enough goodwill that he is likely a couple of more poor seasons away before his job is in serious jeopardy.

Thank you for your response. Not certain that I agree with your view that SR has "earned enough good will" to last a couple of more poor seasons, but the AD is guaranteeing his pay through I believe 2030 so it is rather a moot point!
Unfortunately I am, of the opinion, the result will be very much for the worse!

Utah only beat ASU by 5 today. Nothing is a "for sure" for the last two games. Losing to ASU at Gill would be a major slap in the face. On the flip side of that sentiment, a home win against UA would be a great injection of positivity that we desperately need. Kind of like when our football team craps out all season, but beats the Ducks at the end of the season. (not using this football season as a comparison, so chill out! I attended OSU during the bleak Kragthorpe/Pettibone years) Maybe "bleak" wasn't strong enough......

I don't really have an opinion on whether SRs seat should be warming up. But I look at the MBB program and the patience they have had with WT who has had nowhere near the success that SR has had at OSU. As you mentioned his contract runs through 2030 and relative to most other Pac12 programs home attendance is still pretty good. It will be interesting how much attendance drops off early next season. My sense is that the WBB fan base is fairly loyal, but a season like this will take a toll. Thanks for the conversation.

Everyone in the Pac-12 seems vulnerable this year; even Stanford, to a "degree".

Thank you for your response. You are indeed a kind and forgiving person when you characterize the OSU team as being "vulnerable".
I would lean more toward "terrible", "poorly coached", "under achieving", "lacking discipline and direction". Those are the words I would choose to describe the performance of the Coaching staff this year.

I was speaking primarily to the upper echelon of the division. In person, I’m rather abrasive, especially with pac 12 refs.

Pretty amazing that it was not that long ago that OSU and UO won six straight regular season conference titles and now they are both in a free fall.
