I've been both happiest with Wayne and despondent, perplexed, ambivalent with him too.

Maybe, if he would have kept that high ranking recruiting class that he had. But, EP never won more than 13 games in a season here, so no.

None...not a one. Sorry if that evades the question,but osu hasn't invested in a legit power 5 coach who can consistently win here. Jimmy imo could have had more success if he could have landed Damon Stoudamire,who would have had a Gary Payton like effect on the osu program. Wasn't a fan of his choice of assistant coaches in Fred Boyd and Andy McClouskey too.

I've been both happiest with Wayne and despondent, perplexed, ambivalent with him too. I think that sums it up pretty accurately. There haven't been many student athlete issues either, discounting the fubar of last year. Not sure who you could get tp replace him, the thought of some of the huge money guys is humrous!!..

Jimmy Anderson! Won a league championship and did Ralph's recruiting including "the glove" and was chosen coach of the year. He is the only true bleed orange person in this list including WT. Having GP here was instrumental in having GP 2 play here;

Jimmy Anderson! Won a league championship and did Ralph's recruiting including "the glove" and was chosen coach of the year. He is the only true bleed orange person in this list including WT. Having GP here was instrumental in having GP 2 play here; I remember feeling that the team was inept with Anderson in charge. Of course, I was just a student then and we were coming down from the Ralph legacy days, so he probably got hit with the worst sort of expectations and comparisons. Sort of like the year Pat Bailey took over for Pat Casey.

I was at OSU from 1979-1984, so of course Ralph was King. He was a tough act to follow, with only 2 losing seasons in his 19 seasons at OSU and 8 NCAA tournament appearances. So, as a recent graduate, I was not at all happy with Jimmy having 4 straight losing seasons in years 3-6 of his tenure. After that, I was periodically happy with any coach that looked like they had us going back in the right direction. But considering that NCAA tournament appearances were non-existent under 4 straight coaches and even winning seasons were rare, I have to be "most" happy with Wayne Tinkle getting us 5 winning seasons and 2 NCAA tournament appearances so far. How could I give any other answer?

Who's done the best job? A) Jimmy Anderson B) Eddie Payne C) Ritchie McKay D) Jay John E) Craig Robinson F) Wayne Tinkle I gotta say Eddy's teams were the most fun. The year where we had DeAndre Tanner and Clifton Jones, beating AZ in Gill was special if you could just block out road games. That was the last time I went to 10+ games in a season. We still believed the lack of success would be fleeting. Barnhart was bringing in crazy halftime acts...good times.

At least Eddie developed a future NBA coach.
Almost all of them had at least a stretch of good times, mostly bookend with awful. It’s like picking your favorite meal off the Denny’s menu.
