At least Eddie developed a future NBA coach. Almost all of them had at least a stretch of good times, mostly bookend with awful. It’s like picking your favorite meal off the Denny’s menu. French toast slam is pretty solid. There is a lot of great stuff at Denny's. I always associate it with travelling, because we would basically never eat there otherwise.

Jimmy Anderson! Won a league championship and did Ralph's recruiting including "the glove" and was chosen coach of the year. He is the only true bleed orange person in this list including WT. Having GP here was instrumental in having GP 2 play here; Yes...Jimmy bled Orange and black. Getting payton was lucky. Coach Carnesecca at St. John's pulled Payton's offer when they found a guy in Florida and offered him and gave Gary's to him. Watched Gary in his first practice at osu...came home and told my dad...this guy is really good. If Jimmy could have gotten Damon and Earnest would have been healthy,we could have been special. The Earnest Killum we saw in games wasn't the real Earnest Killum. Saw him in pick up games before his time at osu. 25 foot range...elite athleticism. RIP

Who's done the best job? A) Jimmy Anderson B) Eddie Payne C) Ritchie McKay D) Jay John E) Craig Robinson F) Wayne Tinkle G. None of the above You forgot H) It appears I will never be happy because OSU has a 30 year history of not supporting their basketball program to the level that 10 of the 11 other teams/schools do, pretty much handicapping any coach's chance of success.

Happiest? LOL! FYI; RALPH never made me "happy." The losses to Lamar, KState and Georgetown "dun kilt me." I "ain't" been the same, since.

I can’t help thinking it has been just a terribly unlucky streak of hiring. Jimmy Anderson was a logical choice at the time. Keep the Orange Express rolling! Eddie Payne came darn close. Transfers and unpredictable horrible events derailed that. Ritchie McKay had the pedigree. And has now been very successful with Liberty. What happened in between? Who knows? Jay John was an Asst under the great Lute Olson and those Arizona teams! Seemed like a good hire to me. But….Craig Robinson was probably one of the best coaches that was willing to take the job. And the publicity from the Presidential relationship couldn’t hurt. Tinkle? Well, he had success at Montana and looked like one of those coaches that was ready to take the next step up. Sadly, no.
In any case a guy could make an argument at the time of each hiring that he was the “right guy.” It’s most likely tougher than it looks to pick the right coach!

To me six coaches in a row over 30 years not having success isn't a matter of a terribly unlucky hiring streak, it's a matter of poor institutional support.

What specifically is done poorly by “the institution”?

What specifically is done poorly by “the institution”? Every budget listing I've seen, recruiting/overall, puts OSU at the lowest or next to lowest in the league and right there in the power 5. Over the years I've seen a few "coaches pick the toughest place to coach" article about basketball OSU usually leads the pack. I've linked a few of these articles over the years and I'm pretty sure Wilky has as well. Thos isn't a new thong that just suddenly appeared.

The budget thing, if true, is valid. Not much else offered, but thanks.

Random internet articles about "worst coaching gigs" sound super credible 🙄 Gee how does OSU have success in any sport (football, WBB, baseball, men's soccer, gymnastics, I could go on) with such poor institutional support. A lot of those worst coaching gig articles are literally based on questionnaires answered by Pac 12 coaches, not some random reporters' opinions. Also, our women's and non-income sports are actually well supported comparatively. OSU's sports budget overall is fairly healthy, but neither Football or Basketball budgets are in the even lower middle of the league. Basketball probably gets hosed the most when it comes to budgets (I'm not talking coaching salaries, there finally starting to be mid-level competitive there in both sports). www.google.com/amp/s/watchstadium.com/pac-12-basketball-coaches-rank-the-best-jobs-in-the-conference-06-27-2019/amp/

Elmer's. Like back before the turn of the century Elmer's, when prices were cheap and the food was huge.
