I just watched the PAC-12 replay of the game. I have to say that I agree with escott58 , that we may be able to turn the corner. Let's hope we come out with a fire vs UCLA. What stood out the most in the replay is again, players don't know each other's tendencies and not yet connected with each other. The other thing that stood out is TvO is trying too hard to carry the team, and she is making some really poor decisions. Mannen and Martha are actually pretty darn good defenders and play well together. The couple of times they trapped the USC player, they created havoc. And Marshall for USC is a freak athlete. Her play was the difference. OSU missed so many open shots as well. I'm more encouraged after watching the replay. You shouldn’t be encouraged. This is a 6th to 8th team in the league at best. I'll just hang it up since we'll never beat UCLA... WAIT, we won!

The Bendu I had been hoping to see this season showed up in the UCLA game. Bendu was the positive force out on the floor when things got tight, keeping her teammates pumped up and focused. Bendu was explosive, and did all the little things that make the difference between a W and a L. Count me as wrong saying Bendu wasn't our best option at PG. Bendu did a fine job running the team and managing the game pace. One more hurdle is to get TvO to make better decisions on the floor and not try to take the game over. TvO is awesome at the FT line, and we needed her at the end of the game to make the foul shots. Coaches need to run more plays that give TvO time to set her feet before she releases her shot.

Without Timea, probably. With Timea, all bets off. Timea is not a guard. That is their problem, so I’ll maintain my bet. You are a realist and some are sunshine pumpers, both view points are okay. Gonna be interesting to see what view point is right but looking at the conference a sixth place finish seems about where I would place them too. I am just not placing it on all one player doing everything.

So if Timea starts playing soon, and is approximately as good as she has been projected to be, you still see the Beav's as being a sixth place team as they were without her? And that's being realistic? Your reality is a little warped.

And that's being realistic? Your reality is a little warped. Assuming that Timea will be as good as billed, she would definitely give the Beavers a shot at finishing better than sixth. But she might take several weeks just to get on track. And even if she turns out to be an upgrade, it's not as if the Beavers haven't had good play from Aaron, for example. The backcourt has been more of a concern. Getting Timea in will help with depth as well, which can be huge as the season wears on.

Timea playing the 4 allows Lex to switch to the 3 and Noelle can go back to being the super sub. Lex's offense has been great, but she has been over matched on defense several times due to the other teams height advantage. Also Lex's forte does not include rebounding, which in Rueck's scheme is a major objective of the 4. And the 4 is supposed to help out on defense with blocking shots and again that is not one of Lex's abilities. Timea's playing really has the possibility of changing what the Beav's can do. People have been commenting on what the team really lost with Jones and Brown's departure. When Jones and Brown played together, too little unfortunately, OSU was the number one rebounding and shot blocking team in the country. Beers and Gardiner will be a very different type of combo, if they ever get to play together, but I think it will be a very good one.

Beers - Gardiner playing the 4 & 5 together should quickly surpass Jones - Brown in results...and they'll immediately do so in regards to attitude. Beers is a headlight on a powerful locomotive when it comes to mental outlook. She has the 'it' that (for instance) Pivec and Weise had. A Starting 5 of: Bendu @1, TVO @2, Lex @3, Timea @4, Beers @5... ...with good bench options at most positions - If given a couple weeks to blend together, could be quite entertaining, and effective, by PAC-12 Tourney time. Would be even sweeter if some major 'gel' occurs before (or on) January 20 ( ducks in Gill). This season sure ain't over, as many (including me *), had at least a flickering thought of - after the USC stinker. *I was already starting to research UCSB and Minnesota Gopher baseball teams !!

Don't forget Weisner. She loved taking - and hitting big shots.
