Omaha is a dump. Love going out for the CWS, but it makes me appreciate the good ol PNW. Really the only reason I've even been to Lincoln was cuz my wife missed her flight in Denver coming to Omaha in '18. She flew into Lincoln and my dad and I went and picked her up. Memorial Stadium dominates the skyline when you roll into town.....its impressive, but also there's nothing else there.....it's flat, boring landscape. You couldn't pay me enough live in Nebraska. On the flat and boring thing... both of my parents were born in Nebraska and my grandparents resided in Nebraska most of their lives. Way back ago when I grew up in Grants Pass my Uncle/Aunt and cousins visited and the younger cousins (maybe 6-9 years old) were amazed by the "mountain" they had to drive up to get to our place. It probably was roughly a 65-80 foot elevation change to get to the house. I'm still fond of Nebraska even though I haven't been there in 35 years. The amount of support they had for Nebraska football in the 70's and early 80's was out of this world compared to what I've seen here... Don't know if that's still the case but it wouldn't surprise me. I remember flying into Omaha....over the flat, brown, landscape and the nasty brown Missouri river. It's not very attractive.......then flying home into PDX over Hood.....it made me feel lucky to live where i do.....sometimes I take it for granted.....what can I say, I'm a mountain kinda guy. |

One of the weird things about Omaha was the manager of the Cinnabon at the Westroads Mall. I'd hear him muttering about the cartel in New Mexico. I think he's in prison now.

Some people are starting to talk about why Frost was fired now and not a few weeks later when it would be cheaper. Looks like Frosty attended the Anderpants school of coaching: huskercorner.com/2022/09/14/nebraska-football-accusations-scott-frost/In the article, there's a link to a reddit thread detailing an in-home recruiting visit that Frost cancelled last minute because he was too drunk. I'm still surprised that nobody ever dug into all the rumors surrounding Andersen like they probably will with Frost. But I wonder if OSU applied some leverage here, as part of a deal to not drag Gary's name through the mud if he just walked away. One last thought about this: Is this some kind of new Riley curse? Wherever he's coaching now better be wary of their next coach lol! |
