I read lots of questionable statements on this board (been known to make a few myself), but Lord! this one is just plain silly: "Logan is 100% the reason we did not make it into the CWS. I like him, but he was a major liability to us both at the plate and behind the plate during the Super Regionals. Both games we lost were decided by passed balls from him. He made way too many errors during that series, and his bat went completely cold (including leading the team in GIDP with 5 on the season). You can also use small sample sizes, but for the overall season, Fuchs got on base a lot more than Dernedde, Dukart, and got on base a little more than Logan." ******************** The Truth: Super Regional Losses (Games 1 & 3). In the 18 innings of the TWO losses, OSU committed ZERO passed balls and had ONE wild pitch.....(see below). Gavin Logan committed ZERO errors. Game 1: OSU 7 Hits (Logan had 1), OSU 5 Runs (Logan had 1); OSU 9 LOB (Logan had 2). OSU Errors 1 (Carpenter/Bazzana, 8th inning), led to Auburn's 7th run. OSU Passed Balls 0, OSU Wild Pitches 1 (Townsend, 5th inning, no scoring resulted). Auburn Stolen Bases 1 (Pfennings walked the next 2 batters, loading the bases, and a run scored on a Sac Fly. Game 3: OSU 8 Hits (Logan had 0 - only played 5 innings), OSU 3 Runs (Logan had 0); OSU 9 LOB (Logan had 0....Bazzana had 6). OSU Errors 1 (Bazzana, 6th inning), after which Auburn scored 2 runs. OSU Passed Balls 0, OSU Wild Pitches 0. Auburn Stolen Bases 0. ********** Gavin Logan made ONE ERROR all Season. It was in the REGIONALS v. Vanderbilt. OSU won that game.

I agree, this thread is mostly horses%#t, but I'm leaving it up. I don't know why, entirely, but I am. Morbid curiosity, if nothing else.... No curiosity here, just piles of vomit spawn from butt-hurt fans. This thread has no redemptive value.

Fuchs struck out more times looking on 3rd strikes then probably the whole team combined and from the DH spot no less for crying out loud. His nickname in our house was 0-2 Fuchs. The only time he would get a hit is IF and that is a big if he swang at the first pitch. THAN NOT THEN! T-H-A-N T-H-A-N T-H-A-N How do you get a university degree without knowing the F&%$*ng difference?! T-H-A-N T-H-A-N T-H-A-N T-H-A-N T-H-A-N T-H-A-N

Gavin Logan was good at catcher. Solid. All year. I saw more passed balls and stolen bases against Claunch at A&M…. I saw many of their games.

Claunch struggled with passed balls and arm strength to stop steals at 2nd. Those were his only issues and i felt Logan and Smith were both upgrades. Claunch threw out 16 of the 48 runners that attempted to steal. Gavin Logan threw out 6 of 28. I don't think that Claunch's arm strength was the issue. It was his footwork and framing that were issues. And Logan and Smith both seem upgrades over Claunch. Logan is probably top three or four in the past 20 years in footwork and framing. He is fun to watch on defense. We have had better hitting catchers but few that were so consistently great behind the plate. And the fact that he is not completely awful hitting the ball is a huge bonus.

In 18 games for the Elks, Paul Myro IV has:
18 runs 19 hits 12 RBI
15 SB's
The stolen base total really caught my eye. Didn't realize he was that fast. He's clearly the stolen base leader for entire WCL so far on a per game avg. I wish him the best of luck in the future wherever he ends up.
