Based on what Canham said on the pregame show and during the game, the expectation is that Hjerpe will start. I heard that, too, but why would you believe Canham? Is he going to tip his hand now? I don't think so. Agreed, there's always a chance something changes or Canham was displaying some gamesmanship. We will see.

Of course we would want him back, are you crazy? What did we waste from Lattery? Nothing. Lattery > Pfennigs Maybe, but the coaching staff doesn't believe that.

Wasn't thrilled with Pfennings starting game. He has location issues in my opinion. He shouldn't have been out there as long as he was allowed. Game 1 is too important. Auburn seemed to realize that and the Beavers played it like a regular season game. Never know what could have happened if it was played out differently. The Beaver hitting was subpar but they did score 6 runs. Oh well nothing can be done now. Hopefully things will be different tonight.

So no way Pfennigs goes top 15 rounds right? Do we even want him back? Should have been pulled after the first inning. Not sure why we wasted Lattery’s long reliever ability for 1 inning of mop up… Oh, so young men don't develop from year to year and Pfennigs has peaked? You seem to think of the Beavers as a professional operation instead of remembering that these are just kids who are still honing their skills and their craft. That's the beauty of college ball. It's not pro. Lattery threw 13 pitches. I'm pretty sure he can throw again if needed.

Not sure why we wasted Lattery’s long reliever ability for 1 inning of mop up… Lattery threw 13 pitches. Abel threw 23 pitches and came back the next day to throw 129. If Lattery could throw 129 pitches, he could throw 'em tomorrow just as easily as today. The only two pitchers that are definitively out today are Pfennigs and Townsend. And Verburg should be out today, if at all possible. You can use all of the other pitchers as normal.

That counts.

Maybe, but the coaching staff doesn't believe that. If the team runs the opposing starter and scores 4 runs and you follow it up by walking the yard… heres the door bud. Lets get someone out there who wants to compete. Pfennigs and Nathan Burns on the same trajectory for me. PLEASE SIGN SOMEWHERE. Nice knowing you.

I agree...except that "if at all possible" almost sounds like a dig at Verburg and I wouldn't go that far. If I misread it, then I completely agree.

Ah, that explains so many of your posts. Do yourself a favor and go root for Yankees. Leave the Beavers alone. You'll be happier.

I meant that, you should rest Verburg, if possible. You do not like to send guys out for 30+ pitch outings on consecutive days. You can, but it is not usually wise.

Cant expect your Veteran Leaders to throw strikes on a consistent basis.

Pfennigs fell victim to an inconsistent zone. It was tough for any location-heavy pitcher, like Pfennigs, to throw into that zone. Strike or ball? flip a coin!
