The whistler probably had to work today in his normal job. Train Conductors have rigorous schedules. Maybe heโll fly in for tomorrow just to piss all of you off. The world needs train conductors too!!!

Correct me if I'm mistaken: DAY 1 of the NCAA Tourney saw - SEC 7-2 PAC12 2-2 (1 rainout) You are right... but aren't today's results really 3-1 in our eyes and anyone that doesn't like green jealously?

In any sport, a loss by UofNike is a win for the conference. At least according to me. I may be biased, but I'm still correct.

Correct me if I'm mistaken: DAY 1 of the NCAA Tourney saw - SEC 7-2 PAC12 2-2 (1 rainout) SEC 6-2
The game that was rained out was Arizona-Ole Miss.
The SEC was awarded four host spots, and the Pac-12 was only awarded two. The six hosts went a perfect 6-0.
Michigan was sent to Louisville, 350 miles from Ann Arbor. Oregon was sent to Louisville, 1,970 miles from Eugene, almost 25% across the face (i.e. diameter) of the planet. It is 2,325 miles to drive from Eugene to Louisville, approximately 34 hours. If you straighten out that line, it would almost extend across 30% of the planet.
Arkansas was sent to Stillwater, 184 miles from Fayetteville. Grand Canyon was sent to Stillwater, 1,030 miles from Phoenix.
Georgia was sent to Chapel Hill, 334 miles from Athens.
Florida State was sent to Auburn, 189 miles from Tallahassee. UCLA was sent to Auburn, 2,152 miles from Westwood.
One wonders, if the Pac-12 would have the same results, if most teams were sent to regionals within 350 miles of campus. Or if more than one SEC team had been sent more than 350 miles away from campus.
All that is proven by this analysis is that, as between games involving either the Pac-12 or the SEC, the team that played closer to campus was a perfect 12-0
184 miles from Fayetteville!?! What is the over/under on the entire stadium doing WPS? 15? If it is under 450 miles, Arkansas travels in droves.
The regionals are a rigged game. And the SEC still finds ways to lose. The Pac-12 is set up to lose. The fact that Oregon and UCLA each lost is not very heartening but entirely understandable. Trying to compare and contrast the two conferences' wins and losses without additional analysis is comparing apples to oranges.

It's a choose-your-poison choice. The more West Coast regionals there are, the more the West Coast teams are lumped into them, for quicker elimination.
If there are only one or two WC regionals, most WC teams get sent 2 or 3 time zones away (because there are never any regionals in the Mt. Time zone).
As Wilky said, the closer to home you say, the fewer time zones you go through, the better tour chance of success.

Trying to compare and contrast the two conferences' wins and losses without additional analysis is comparing apples to oranges. Excellent points. And for the Ducks it stays pretty difficult. The #4 Louisville seed that they play next has a not-too-bad RPI of 65, and a 37 win season - and is only 275 miles from home. A little better lot for UCLA, they play a 30-30 team with RPI of 105 that is about 300 miles from home.. Vandy, the only SEC team that had 'real' travel / time zone challenges, gets to play an RPI 221 team that itself had to travel 1,600 miles

Population and money will always be factors in the way the tournament breaks down.
"Always has been & always will be."
However, lets acknowledge some improvements in college baseball seeding. Specifically going from 8 National seeds to 16.(If Casey had his way all 64 teams would be seeded just like NCAA basketball)
If all 64 teams were seeded you would get teams from the same conference playing in the Regionals.
Is that something Benny's House posters would like? I don't know but its something to ponder.
IMO things have been improving from the "olden days."
