Classic SEC provincialism. Pac 12 is about to show just how good it is on the top half. I saw enough of tourney games from around the country to know that that Stanford team we played last night is as good as anyone in the country. Their bats are problems Well, Vandy did knock of Stanford and Arizona in the CWS on their way to the championship last year. Totally fair that they talk smack until we shut them up. They had a slightly different starting rotation last year!

since I'm not putting any bucks down on that Auburn regional, I'll go with Southeastern LA. ๐ Agreed...I stand corrected. Go Lions 1st and foremost. Then FSU, Auburn, UCLA in order!(I, like most on this board, REALLY do NOT want to see UCLA again) The Lions named the Auburn Regional the Lions, Tigers and Bears..........and Seminoles Regional. I don't enough about Southeast Louisiana to have an opinion other than I would rather play Southeast Louisiana than Auburn. It really depends on how that Regional unfolds, but I would rather play UCLA than Auburn. The Tigers have a lot of big bats and play very sound baseball. On the other side, there is no way on Earth that UCLA can win four times in Goss in the same season. I don't believe it.

Hopefully, Florida State wins the Auburn Regional. I would love for the Noles to come to Corvallis. I believe that they present the most favorable matchup. The times that Oregon State has won a National Championship, the other regional has been won by the #3 seed from the Pac-10 (2006), #2 seed (2007) and #14 overall seed (2018). The team that won the other Regional has been the northernmost (2006 and 2007) or second-most northernmost (2018) team in the other Regional. The year, that would be UCLA (northernmost) and Auburn (second-most northernmost). was Stanford that #3 seed because if they were we played them at home. Yes. Stanford was the #3 seed from the Austin Regional. Oregon State played the Cardinal at Goss.

Their bats are problems Well, Vandy did knock of Stanford and Arizona in the CWS on their way to the championship last year. Totally fair that they talk smack until we shut them up. Arizona's head coach had one foot out of the door. Kumar Rocker gave up five runs to Arizona. (Rocker had not given up a postseason run to that point, all games in Nashville.) The Wildcats led 5-3 in the seventh (one of Vandy's runs was on a ball that the left fielder lost in the sun and the other was a two-run shot) but left Chase Silseth one batter too long. Arizona put in Price who inherited a runner and gave up 1B and HR to turn a 5-3 lead into a 6-5 deficit. In order to come back, the Wildcats unnecessarily pinch ran for Susac in the ninth. The pinch runner scored on a sac fly after a single moved him to third. The game went into the 12th. The first hitter got on after the ball deflected off Vince Vannelle's bare hand away from the second baseman for a base hit. The second hitter bunted. The second baseman and Vanelle thought that the first baseman would field but no one fielded. After a foul out, Vanelle walked the next batter on five pitches (the 2-1 was a little high, I guess?). Arizona appeared to over-shift, leaving the shortstop just out of position enough to not be able to make the play on the ball hit up the middle, which trickled into centerfield for the win. Stanford led 5-2 in the sixth, but two of the first three hitters singled to chase Mathews. Palisch came in and, similarly, allowed two of the first three hitters to single to allow Vandy to pull within one. Stanford put Brandon Beck in on three days' rest to finish the final three innings. Beck pitched an almost perfect 2.2 innings and then ran out of gas, giving up a BB, 1B, 1B and WP to hand the game to the Dores. Vandy then struggled to beat an NC State team with 13 players 3-1 and were allowed to mosey into the Championship Series against Mississippi State after NC State was forced to withdraw from the Tournament, because of COVID-19. The one thing that gives me pause to the whole thing is that Vanderbilt was expected to be a top two team in the SEC. However, they have only hit .269 on the year and have a 5.44 ERA in the SEC. None of the pitchers who threw at least three innings in the SEC has an ERA below 3.52. Two of their everyday players are hitting below the Mendoza Line. Honestly, more worrying to me is if San Diego escapes Vandy and saves Brycen Mautz. That is my own worst-case scenario in this regional. I don't want to see that happen.

Courtesy of the SEC Rant message board: "Oregon State has struggled against some good teams. Due to the fact that Oregon State has been playing cupcake teams in the PAC 12, that has boosted their ranking. Vandy has played countless teams this season in the SEC that have the chance to go the distance. We should be prepared for this regional quite well. Seems like they have forgot that they actually have to play at least one game before they would even meet OSU. Would love to see San Diego beat them in game 1 and see what their reaction is

Some more interesting stats Oregon State gave up 25 runs to UCLA the other night but also scored 21. 4.18 team ERA .299 team batting average Oregon State has only played 3 top 25 RPI games and they are 1-2. Itโs seems that this Oregon State group does the damage with the bats, but you also gotta think that their numbers are boosted due to their week conference. Expect a shootout if neither them or Vandy gets upset and they meet." How did Vandy do in the Corvallis Super Regional in 2017? My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I recall them getting their "ass kicked." Who got their ass kicked in 2017 ?โฆ. It was Vanderbilt. Beat 17-6 in 2 games sweep by Beavers. I love the attitude. Bring it on. of course, if they lose to USD game 1โฆ. Which is very possibleโฆ theyโll have to alter their calculus. Keep Bradfield off base.

When I think of Vandy, KJ Harrison immediately comes to mind.

I guess I'd be more surprised if they weren't talkin s%#t. They are a proud, elite program. They know they have the horses to make a run. We just need to drown out the noise and take care of biz no matter who it's against.
