Do you dare save our ace for game two? Vandy (or SD) are really good. NM State is not.

Did you want me to save it until later lol?
Very productive response by the way. Definitely the informative thoughts people were hoping for.
Aggies are literally one of the worst teams 2-3 teams in the entire tourney (RPI 229)

Aggies big stick (their only one?) is left-handed hitting Sophomore 1B/Catcher(?) LOGAN GALLINA. - 21 HR's
He struck out 4 times in 5 AB in the final game (When NM State won the WAC). This season Gallina struck out a huge 82 times in 207 ABs.....Comparison: Fuchs SO 41 in 132 AB's.

Do you dare save our ace for game two? Vandy (or SD) are really good. NM State is not. I think the short answer is yes. The longer answer revolves around Cooper and how he may feel about pitching the next week on a day of rest short.

Plus I’m sure Vandy and USD would love to NOT see Connor in game 2.

They would just throw him in game 2 if we start on Friday.

Maybe Pfennings was a short enough outing that he could go 6 or 7?

I guess, but it’s not the end of the world if he throws game 2. To me, goal number 1 is win the regional. If the coaches think saving Cooper for game 2 gives us the best chance then I’m for it. If Pfennigs and our offense can’t beat a below .500 team then we really don’t deserve to win our regional.

This is 100% correct. As a national seed, the difference between game one and game two is immeasurably huge. We have plenty of pitching to support our bats against NMST. There is no reason to pitch CH. SD and Vandy have to go with their 1s in a vital first game. Vandy will likely win (their 1 is a stud) but they're unreliable after that. Want your best for game two then let the other teams tax their arms

It just seems like it would be unnecessary to use one of the nation’s best starting pitchers against a team like the Aggies.
