Trent Sellers was assigned to the Yankees FCL team in Tampa. The Tampa Yankees won the FCL North and host the FCL South Champion Pirates. Sellers has not logged any statistics for the Tampa Yankees, so I am uncertain whether any of the foregoing makes any difference whatsoever. North Port Braves beat the Tampa Yankees 9-1 in the FCL Complex Championship Game. The Tampa Yankees' season has ended. No promotion for Brown or Kane yet. And Sellers still has not been used in a game. |

Grant Gambrell recently promoted to AAA Worcester went 5.2 innings in his debut giving up 0 runs on 2 hits, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts

Grant Gambrell recently promoted to AAA Worcester went 5.2 innings in his debut giving up 0 runs on 2 hits, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts Gambrell went 5 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, 1 walk, and 9 strikeouts in his second game. He was placed on the Development List two days later. |

As an update on Cooper Hjerpe: In early June, after his 6th start with the A+ Peoria Chiefs, his arm locked up and he had 2 loose pieces of joint cartilage surgically removed. This was shortly after being named as the Cardinals' Minor League Pitcher of the month for May. He is now well into rehab and is throwing hard to batters in simulated games.After September 1, he may be sent back to Peoria (if they m make the Northwest League playoffs) and/or to the Arizona Fall League Scottsdale Scorpions. Hjerpe pitched twice in Peoria and is now in Scottsdale. Sonny DiChiara is also there, because the Angels and Cards share Scottsdale. |

Kevin Abel throws six shutout innings (high-A) with two hits and one walk. I'm sure that's his best game since he was wearing a Beaver jersey. After 20 innings this year his WHIP is 0.95. I'm thinking his arm is back to 100% and he's cleaned up his mechanical issues.

Kevin Abel throws six shutout innings (high-A) with two hits and one walk. I'm sure that's his best game since he was wearing a Beaver jersey. After 20 innings this year his WHIP is 0.95. I'm thinking his arm is back to 100% and he's cleaned up his mechanical issues. Kevin Abel was promoted to AA Chattanooga 2-3 weeks ago. |

Ryan Brown was officially placed on the roster in Mesa a week ago. He had a bad first game but threw a perfect final two innings on Wednesday in what was not a save situation. The Mesa Athletics' season ended today. I am curious, if the Athletics promote Brown or not. Ryan Brown played three games at AAA Las Vegas but is playing at A Stockton right now. In a weird twist, it looks like someone is trying to promote Brown back to AAA Las Vegas, but AAA Las Vegas does not appear to have ever activated Brown. That might be some kind of mistake on someone's part. |

Ben Holmes was called up to AAA Charlotte on the 14th. Two bad outings since, giving up three runs in one inning and picking up a loss and giving up four runs in 2/3 of an inning on Saturday to pick up a second loss. Charlotte released Holmes yesterday. Ben Holmes is playing in his 11th year of professional baseball for Caliente de Durango in the Mexican League. |

obf Since you were interested, I have heard that Rasmussen is unlikely to rejoin the Rays until at least August. Drew Rasmussen is having an InternalBrace installed to brace his UCL. There is supposedly less of a recovery time, but he is still likely done for the rest of the season. Drew Rasmussen was supposed to have thrown a bullpen session 3-4 weeks ago in Florida. The Rays seem to be very cautiously bringing Rasmussen along. |

Matt Boyd with San Francisco Giants Still recovering from flexor tendon surgery but sounds like he’s getting close Matthew Boyd became a free agent after last year. He just threw for 17 MLB teams on Friday. Boyd had a 92-93 mph fastball. He needs to get signed by somebody, so he can start building up his pitch count to be some team's fifth starter. |

This makes me happy. He's been decent at AAA, a left-hander, and not a sniff of MLB. But now he is called up. His stats are bad this year. His first appearance of the year, he got two out and gave up seven runs. Throw that out, and the stats are close to the same as 2023 and 2022. Congratulations BE. |

Eisert gives up two walks and a single but survives his first inning without giving up a run. A caught stealing, on appeal, helped a lot.
