Grenier — who played with Rutschman at Oregon State, then joined Baltimore’s 2018 draft class with Rodriguez when he was taken 37th overall — slashed .444/.542/.611 last week. He enters this week on a seven-game hitting streak, with six multihit games in his past 13 contests for a .984 OPS in that span. In his first true stint in Triple-A, the 25-year-old is posting career bests in walk rate and strikeout rate. ....and then, as has been his pattern, Cadyn goes 0-17 over a 6 game stretch the second week of June...and now he's back down to .228 on the season. Sheesh, must drive hitting coaches nuts! p.s. I'm a Grenier fan, but unless he heats up in July / August, a Sept. callup would be surprising (unless the Orioles have some injury calamity with middle infielders). Would love to see him get at least get a 'cup of coffee', ala Tyler Graham.

The Orioles just released a SS (Chris Owings) and called one up from Norfolk (Richie Martin). Plus, their 2B (Ramon Urias) just went on the 10-day IL. Grenier still being in AAA can't be a good sign.

Beau Philip went 0/3 with a walk. Philip wound up stranded on third in the second. Philip's Rome won 3-2 on a walk-off error by the second baseman. Game two is tomorrow. Philip was stranded at first one inning in game one. In game two, Auburn's Burkhalter started and got shelled. Philip was thrown out at the plate in a five-run ballgame in the fifth, and Rome never really had another shot. Philip struck out to end the game. It seems that he was primarily utilized for his defense.

Surprising news I hadn't heard- Cadyn Grenier has voluntarily retired. I'll be updating other former beavs stats as more minor league teams get underway soon.

From a quick look-around at the list above, it looks like Hamilton and McGarry are playing AAA ball. Philip is still at A+ Rome. Donahue and Malone have both been released.

too bad about Grenier. I hope he gives it one more try. If it was his final game a few days ago, he went 3-3 with 2 walks. I see Ben Wetzler Holmes signed with the White Sox, pitched one perfect inning in a spring training game and is on the Charlotte (AAA) roster. He did not play in 2022.

Surprising news I hadn't heard- Cadyn Grenier has voluntarily retired. I'll be updating other former beavs stats as more minor league teams get underway soon. Hope it is not true. Best SS in the last 20 years for us. My first thought in reading this was the financial impact of saying no to a 800k MLB signing bonus in 2015 to come to Oregon State. When he eventually signed with the O's the signing bonus was 1.8 million. He also got the experience of winning 112 college games in two seasons and will wear a championship ring for the rest of his life. Not bad, hope he has no regrets.
